What raid difficulty? R1 skellies, dryad, etc you can get away with 7 piece Eminence of the Winter set from Feywild. You'll be strong enough for R10 quests as well. The upgrades from there are either LGS or doing goofy stuff to get the profane bonus on Chrono set or Dino set into a Winter set or something else.

If you're main-tanking though then what I'm think of is a 0 damage build. You level up with an Esos and Holy sword with the pally cleaves and just suffer if you're hesitant to LR. Every drop of DPS in the intimi-tanks is a drop not spent on pure defense. Getting some utility for stuns is an option but if you're returning to the game then that might gimp you I'm not sure.

Pure Pally and Pure Fighter are both great. I haven't been impressed by the weird split builds.

That said you'll need to get your filigrees sorted. I got no opinions there.

AC does work and is very helpful until you start getting into the mid skulls on raids where it falls off a bit. A pure barbarian tank then becomes good because you just need a sack of HP and a good healer.

Well to be fair, if you get 140 CON, the HP kinda sorts itself

Join Strimtom's discord and grab emergencies fighter tank build - its pre U57 so you ill have to shuffle around a few things and if you watch the stream/youtube video you can rollback the (bad) changes Strimtom made.

I think its probably the best publicly available and fighters are better now than when it was posted.

Filigree damage and imbues are irrelevant to tanks they gained a significant amount of HP with U57

Tier 5 Stalwart Defender's Thick of Battle has been replaced with a flat passive 100% Threat bonus and now grants 60 Hit Points.
Tier 5 Against the Odds now grants 60 Hit Points in addition to its original effects.
Core 4 Stalwart Defender's Stand Fast now grants a +10% Quality bonus to Hit Points in addition to its original effects.
Tier 5 Block and Cut has been updated to perform a melee attack with your main hand weapon, 2/4/6[W] on Damage. Gain a +10/15/25% Morale bonus to Doublestrike and a +10/15/25 bonus to Armor Class for 5 seconds. Cooldown 10 seconds.
Tier 3 Stalwart Defender's Defensive Stance has been increased to a +25% Competence bonus at rank 3.
New Fighter Perk: Second Wind - Auto granted for fighter level 2. Active this ability to regain 50% of your maximum Hit Points. 15 second cooldown. You can used this once per rest, with an additional charges gained at Fighter levels 4, 8, 12, 16, 20. This can be used while Crowd Controlled. At level 8 Second Wind removes negative effects like the Panacea spell. (Note: This heal will apply as a inflict if your undead or repair if you are a construct)

As well as all the heroic durability and style bonus changes
