What ingame economy?

There are a handful of items that are still used to trade.

-Certain Augments
-Rare Filigrees
-Curse cards? (maybe?)
-Some rare crafting mats (ok now I'm reaching..)

That's about it, I suppose.

A few items getting traded does not an economy make.

I'm guessing every single employee at SSG failed economics in high school.

The reverse is also true. Both the platinum and AS auctions are full of unbelievable crap that would warrant a kick in the nuts in my opinion.

Way too much random crap without any redeeming quality (augment slots and material type if you want to be a nitpick), useless overpriced filigrees and other stupid shit.

Makes me wonder if SSG pays some hapless teenager to run dungeons all day and post random crap on the AH to make it look like the game has an economy. Alternatively there are just so many stupid players who think "Well, this looks useless, but someone might want it!"

Can't even search for the shit you might want.  Things with augment slots?  Nope.  Things with hidden extra or 4th effects whatever they're called?  nope.

Mhmm, yes. I'm gonna sell my big sentient XP rocks so I'll have money to buy smaller ones.

They really should incorporate cannith crafting into everything. So, that collectables can be useful across level-ranges.

For example, even raid loot is craftable with X, Y, Z upgrade via CC. Makes it more relevant and helps promote an economy.

SO... it'll never happen.

That is utterly...a good idea so that's how we know it will never happen. I've lost count on how many kinds of crafting have been discontinued

I'm confident you can understand where I'm going at. No need to waste any more words on it  Lips Sealed

This is shit the bed games we're talking about here.  Any step in the right direction will be so horribly implemented it will actually be a step backwards; look at what they did when they "improved" the collectibles turn-in system to such high rates that after months of grinding, you could afford a somewhat useful potion and incorporated it into Cannith crafting at the same time.

All cries of "it's good but the rates are too high and the collectables shouldn't be used for two separate things" completely ignored.

Best we can hope for is some hackneyed system of "exchange 5 pieces of X crafting for 1 random piece of X system."  Something like "5 crafting ings from Slavers can now be traded in for 1 random ing of Challenge ings and only Challenge ings.  Challenge ings can be traded for Green Steel and only Green Steel" and so on.

Expand on that: use named items(including raid loot) as ingredients in Cannith. So you take raid weapon X, craft these three upgrades onto it, then convert it into a shard, and that let's you craft a whole new weapon.

This would also create a useful sink for named items beyond sentient food(which, let's be real - feeding any named item less than ml29 is basically vendor-trashing it for all the good it does). Using the more common/less desirable items for crafting ingredients would be cool.

Well genius, there *was* a big (HUGE, really) exploit going on. In fact there were several exploits going on.

Besides the Hood exploit (you could use it almost at will despite the fact it had 1 charge), there was a dupe exploit where Otto's boxes were being duped (no surprise there), and there was a card dupe exploit happening. Orien was the epicenter of it all. The Cleansing Card was one of the favorite targets of the dupers.

Pay attention, Sleepy.

I boot up ddo after a long break and this is what I missed? Damn! On a positive note, is the box "market" back in Orien?? Could use some now  Grin
