Every other MMO on the planet has figured raids out.  It's fucking simple...  3-4 boss fights.  Trash in between.  Each boss fight has a different mechanic.  As you progress through the raid it gets more difficult.

Your third point is so pathetic that it makes me want to ignore your other valid ones.

Upset that newer players have joined the game and are better than you huh?

There are plenty of players from 2006-2009 who stand out from the crowd of f2p players, the fact that you don't reflects mostly on you.

I have a really good suggestion for you... you might actually find it quite entertaining.   Make a brand new character... and don't put it in your guild.   Then just go pug away and just observe what happens when you don't have a guild tag and people don't know who you are.   You'll see my point real fast.  All of the important long time players have always known who my main characters were.   But I didn't find a guild that suited my playstyle until the EU guys came over.   What many people consider 'skill' i.e. talking about what each person is going to do and who is doing what and planning your strategy based on the previous umpteen times you've done the quest some people... like myself find completely meh.  It doesn't take away from the fact that I am one of the best players in the game.  Trust me when I say that time and time again the vast majority of the player base adopted my approach years after I was doing it.  I'll give you an example... when offering of blood epic came out.   All the goobers were all about not wasting time...ensuring a 'no-fail'... yapping on about jumping on the lever... getting aggro w/ firewall... forming a wall etc etc etc.   At that time I was like relax just let things fall where they will you don't have to carry on telling people how to play and trivilizing the game into disected little pieces.   Unfortuantely at that time.. it rarely worked because most people who were in epics had no real foundation of playing the game.  Everything they had learned had been from being instructed.. they didn't have a foundation of the 'big picture'.  Of course as usual they were too thick to see that.    A year or so later the best players in the game were finally catching on to my approach.  These were Legion guys.

The point is that Turbine DID sell out the long time players.   When all the WOW goofballs finally jumped on the bandwagon when the game went f2p in 2008... they had every motivation to go TR a bazillion times their one toon.  Its like training to run in a race and running the first 30 of 40 laps and then having a few clowns jump in the race after  you've done your 30th lap and the officials putting them on their 30th with you.     The fact of the matter is that unless your in a well known guild you WILL deal with UNENDING COMPLETE IDIOCY from players who have been playing 1/100th the time that you have.   Yeah its just a game but trust me when you experience it you'l know what I'm talking about.   People who literally have their heads up their asses trying to teach you the wrong way because they were taught on the forums even though they have no real understanding of it themselves.     Yeah after I joined a top guild, its kind of like being given a license to carry a gun.   No one dares question you if your in a top guild.   But the fact that my playstyle didn't meld well w/ what I considered to be a the grindy yawnfest that most of the American's take... doesn't mean that I'm not one of the top players.    It does mean that every fucking f2p retard that comes along will have something to say and try to teach you the bull shit they learned on the forums even though they have no real understanding of what they learned.   Like I said go try it out.... and tell me what happens.  Of course you can say fuck you and drop group but you'l find you won't be grouping much because every stupid fuck who doesn't see a guild tag will have something to say to you that will rub you the wrong way.

I read the whole thing. Valid points from your perspective.  I can't speak to the comparison between DDO and D3, since I've gotten to all of level 3.

If you need help leveling, I'll run you through Korthos and a few Marketplace quests and show you how to get to level 4.  I can also give you some gear that will make your early levels in DDO easier so that you can get past level 3 on more than just that one character...

I kind of felt like this thread was Anti-Climactic.

Loose ends:

1. Did Epoch get super shit faced and use a copying machine inappropriately?

2. Did Epoch drink the Merlot?

3. Where can I find a job that let's me drink while at work?

4. What was the secret bottle?

Honestly at the time their way probably did result in completing the quest more often mostly because of the vast gap in ability.   If you've got 6 people who've actually been playing daily since launch... chances are you can just let everyone play their character.  But when y ou get  a bunch of fucking big mouths who don't know what they're doing aside from taking dictation.. you end up with a situation where you either tell one dude to jump on the lever and the others to form a wall etc or the quest is over real quick.

People play the game for different reasons.   Some people just like yapping and planning it out and figuring out an exploit.  Others prefer the immersion factor and aren't really all that interested in whether you get the completion.  But the fact remains that people have a tendency to open their mouth ALOT when they don't see a guild tag.   One guy comes to mind a guy I met years ago before I joined the guild I'm in.   I knew the guy had been playing a year.  We ended up running some epics with pugs... at that time archmage had just come out... my first one was an evoker w/ the web SLA.  We get in the epic and I start casting web.   Being that they were all complete morons who had no business even being in epics.. I start hearing 'mass hold plz'... "mass hold'...I'm like uhh... Im not an enchanter... I'm also damaging the mobs and w/ force evocation spells while they're in the web its just that the complete morons couldn't hit the mobs unless they were held in auto crit.   Turns out the 5 of em in that group (4 nobodies and the one guy I knew) literally ended up leaving that group thinking I was the noob who didn't know how to play a caster.   I ended up of course leaving group and they then sat their waiting for their mass hold bot to show up.  But the point is this is a shining example and perfect representation of the whole.   Although its just one instance.. it PERFECTLY represents the vast majority of the DDO population.  Not only COMPLETE MORONS but complete morons who ACTUALLY THINK THEY KNOW WHAT THEY"RE DOING.    Now of course we can all laugh about that here.. but try to run in a group with people like this and you'll see my meaning a lot more clearly.   Of course being in a guild pretty much rectifies the situation in its entirety as once people see your in one of the top guilds with many world wide first accomplishments  that pretty much lets them know immediately that you are way better than they are and they have no inclination to question you in the first place.

I've no idea what your method is to run oob, but I know when my and my guildies ran it, it was a zerg to the bridge, raise it, zerg to the last door before the sub bosses, kill trash. Jumping around on levers or w/e your claiming seems like a completely pointless waste of time allowing more respawns.

Regarding a new toon, I did one better, I've made a stoned favored soul on khyber.  I don't know anyone, and nobody knows me, I've got no real gear, and it's quite entertaining.

Obviously having not managed to reach cap yet I'm dealing with the standard idiotic pug scene and am soloing to avoid being slowed down by retards.

That said, I've managed to solo heal a norm vod and 2 shrouds already, I've decided that you khyberians make everything bloody difficult, the high road to vod and splitting stuff to corners in part 2 of shroud?! seriously?

You seem to prove my point though, I'm one of these 2009 f2p players, you can spout off all you want about how you're one of the best in the game, honestly though, I doubt you're better than me, and a bunch of other late comers. (for the record I've never played wow, so go fuck yourself)

For every I've been a "DDO pro since 2006", there's a "I've been a DDO retard since 2006"

At the moment Your argument smacks of i ground out my unnamed dragontouched so everyone else should have to as well.

Instead of crying out for automatic attention and recognition go earn it.

nah don't sweat it, i found a heavy fort ring on the ah for 2.5k plat, so i went to the f2p lords march quests for the wis hat / cha ring.

aside from shroud runs, i'm giving up on khyber for now though, no point grinding gear with the expansion so damn close.

You missed the point.. the point is that Turbine should show some loyalty for the long time players instead of dicking them in the ass and selling them off on the slave market.   This way when we happen to end up in the same group and your that loudmouth fuckface whos on his 9th life or whatever and youve grown a big fucking ego from everyone seein you on the LFM's ad nauseaum goin around and around.. when your inclined to act like a big shot you'll see that although your on your 9th life or whatever your player level is still 13 and although Im on a new character you'll see that my player level is 106 and it'll inspire you to keep your fucking mouth shut and do as your told.

Now that said... I'm not blaming anyone Im just commenting on common nature.  It is in the common nature of most DDO players to act like a fucking dumbshit and put their foot in their mouth once they start sprouting their little one year annivesary wee wee.   Guild tags tend to solve that problem but still not everyone falls in the grindfest yawnfest that most of the top end guilds promote.   Its not much of a problem for me nowadays but I was just commenting on how it was a slap in the face to the long time vets to introduce TR'ing without showing some fuckng respect and loyalty for the people who played from the onset..

1.  No

2.  I tried it, but my viewpoint on wine was once again held in my place - it is horrible.

3.  Good question - my manager left and she wasn't coming back for the rest of the night.  A guest decided to give me some alcohol, because I am awesome.

4.  I would have to peruse my posts to know what you mean secret bottle.

The problem again is, playing since 2006 doesn't make you any better than a player who started in 07/08/09. Sure you can want recognition for it, but your example of a level mechanic doesn't separate you from people who've been retarded for the last 6 years.

We can argue about notoriety all we want, but lets face it there will never be a working system implemented by turbine that would separate a good vet from a shit house one.
