If I had to make a guess its related to LOTR's new expansion this week - a retarded friend of mine has been talking about this week since March.

A half-dozen boss Vaulties donated generously with real money to my classroom during a fundraiser in May 2015 to get poor kids books to read. I won't forget that. They know who they are, and they freaking rule.

4G is sooooo weak... People needs to remember that 15 years ago they were told that WAP was Mobile Internet ( sure if you loved your 9200 Bauds modem ), then came GPRS that was to be Mobile Internet ( yeah your modem went to 33K Bauds ), and then EDGE ( That's a 56K Modem )...

Then the 3G Hype came, and Mobile Internet was there ( yeah a 512K DSL Line... If you are alone on the Cell ), it was then upgraded to HSDPA, HSUPA to become HSPA ( yeah the 1Mb DSL Line, again if you are alone on the Cell )

Now we have the 4G, Yes It's Mobile Internet, Yes It's faster ( DSL Max, say between 8 and 20Mb, and you still need to be alone in the Cell ).

And in 10 Years you'll get 5G, It will be Mobile Internet, it will be Faster.

GPRS : General Packet Radio Service.
EDGE : Enhanced Data-rate for GPRS Evolution
HSDPA : High Speed Download Packet Access
HSUPA : High Speed Upload Packet Access
HSPA : High Speed Packet Access

a Fucking Fiber is still Faster and will still be fucking faster than 5G in 10 Years.

Turbine's shit CoV drop rates are encouraging more people to play in Stormhorns. All the half-orcs are spawning and immediately succumbing to the homosexual orgasm of realizing they're inside someone else, and someone else is inside them. The bliss of reveling in this soul train is drowning the poor hamsters in half-orc spoog making the servers unable to function.

(The A* pathing algorithm implemented in 1998 with the origianl AC engine is entering a race condition when 16 mobs spawn on top of one another, and only the first mob in the stack can make a valid move. All others are checking every permutation of steps and seeing that it is an illegal step inside another mob. A* is meant to work well in parallel, but works like shit in sequence.)

TL;DR:  Turbine's shitty scaling is crippling things.

The code for Dungeon Alert has gotten loose and acquired sentience. It has altered itself slightly, and is now "Player Alert". We can't see it, but on a dev console to the servers, they are seeing

Quote:
"Player Alert:RED - You have angered a great many players, and your customers have been alerted to the breadth of your stupidity and are taking extreme protest measures!"

shortly after that, there is a huge lag spike and the server crashes

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

They have located the problem and it's a server that acquired a small amount of dust creating an overheated condition.

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

*shrug* Been there done that seen worse.

Consider this : I did some support on a system that had an uptime around 1500 days. ( Unix, HP 9000 K520 ). Towards the end, we were taking great care not rebooting it, as we weren't sure it was going to come back up... that meant that when we were called for a problem on it we spent a lot of time finding ways to do things without having to do the Fix All Problems reboot. Because for us it was the Potentially Generate a Nightmare From a Small Problem Reboot.
I became a Master at not rebooting Unix Systems, People wonder how I do it... and Why I do it... When you have a system that has been 3years+ up you start to worry at what is going to happen if you reboot it, and if you're good at your job you take measures to avoid rebooting it.
( oh dear I sound soooo Plume de Soleil saying that... anyway, It's not my job anymore I no longer work with servers, I work with SmartEdges ( and it's a different kind of beasts ) )
