Simplest way to open it is to run Notepad or Wordpad as Administrator, then open "%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" (on modern windows systems).

In the beginning, most people hated them, the few cartoon people loved them. Now, most people tolerate it because there is nothing else you can do. It is like giving kids crayons... the first thing they do is color outside the lines to get a lot of color out there. Nothing makes sense. Really large icons of mail envelopes? Really? What is this 1985 (GEM)? Background: I created some of the original icons for a GEM application back then... Mailbox open...mailbox closed..mailbox with flag up... mailbox with sperm coming out (the review I got for my animated mail transfer icon). I learned that while garish stuff can look cool at first, it is not very functional. You lose a lot of screen area just for static logos. What is up with big fucking banners at the top all the time? I am reading the forums and know it by the title of the forum - why do I need to be reminded what fucking site with a giant logo? /rant

	I'd bet the icons are vB default... 99% of it is vB default styling or untested no-effort hacks to default (like the white-on-white still on some parts).

It's even more obvious if you take the pageview/users graph. Edit : I just had to do a search for one of my own post ( simple query : user : myself ( exact user ), query : crash king forest ) 5The search engine from the forum is so fucked up that it couldn't find my own posts... This new improved forum is so full of Fail that maybe we should put it for the Fail awards somewhere on the Web.

	That was interesting, thanks. Pageviews, pageviews/user and time spent on site have all nose-dived. I know I basically don't bother with it any more: as far as I'm concerned, the Vault has gone from being The Other Forum to being The Only Forum. Of course, this does mean that Vaulties will henceforth be subject to all the dumbshit questions I would once have posed to the "official" forums...

	The fun part is that C&T seems to be unable to find posts to infract too since the change. I've seen several posts that would have been cubed and/or infracted before, but they are all still here... ( and some have been sitting here for more than a week ) talk about a fucked up web update.

	What bothers me the most in this fuck up is that Turbine didn't test a shit out of their new forums... Most if not all the feather_of_sun'ed things could have been seen if they had taken the time to build a test website.
