this is fully self buffed..



1 wizzy and 1 bard past lives
12 ETR`s



70 necro/62 web/63 pk/67 dance
50 umd/83 search/95 spellcraft are the highlights.....

spell pen is only 38-39



my thoughts were to knock out 2 wizzy and and a sorc past life.
i am using the past life of the bard for 1 DC to enchantment. Swap that out for the sorc past life and get.. say..??? 300 more sp


or


just knock out 2 wizzy past lives and replace the bard past life feat for greater spell pen?

+4 spell pen and 300 sp per rest
or
+8 spell pen

Curious about your INT breakdown. This is what I'm thinking:

20 base
  7 level ups
  5 tome
  6 enhancements (2 pale, 2 arch, 2 sun elf)
  2 capstone
  2 lich

  3 insightful
  1 exceptional

  6 destiny
  2 guild
  2 yugo

What am I missing?

Alchemical would mean losing 1DC from Thunderforged two hander.
Echoes of the ancestors and 1 int twist is practical imo.
Since he has ecompl probably 1 more int twist or even 6 tome.
Don't think anyone has 3 from epic feats.

Anyway 78 is fucking cool ! Mine can get to 72 with yugo and ship.

Once epic completionist is obtained, it's probably feasible to consider using COV alchemical potions.

Do all of the Spell pen enhancements stack? i'm trying to work out if eldrtich int is realistic.


Edit*  I'd probably not bother with spell pen, I'd do 3 cleric lives, and if ahead of time I know i'm going to run spell pen content, swap to a conjuration archmage for webby goodness.

I meant alchemical as Cannith raids one hander.
I think those cov pots are insight +2.

Dunno about spell pen, mine is drow.
Even then +1 enchant and Feywild tap ( well it's buggy but still ) are too good to pass.

I am only at 68 with ship/yugo. Only have +3 tome, +10 item Sad Plus I am currently only twisting in 1 int, and took 0 INT feats. I am not max DC but I'm ok with that.

as for the spell pen.. that is the only lacking part of this toon i think. EE drow are the only real issue

21 : int
24 : esf necro
27 : x mental toughness

more sp, same necro dc, and the lack of 1spell power is more than made up by gaining +1% crit chance

also, I don't place a lot of weight in the sorc pastlife, sure it grants sp, but unlike the mental toughness line, it doesn't give the extra 1% crit chance.

before the 12 etr`s and the 4th twist i was running

21-int
24-int
27-ESF necro

after the 12etr`s,

21-int
24-int
27-int
and the 4th twist was int to make me even again

i am a sun elf and the fey tap give me almost 1000sp (192 per tap) x5


i could also just do ESP necro for the 27 feat and do the SP buff from the divine destiny. them my sp would fo to just under 3400


i am running 9% spell crit (from ETR) and the 10% from the nether orb right now..  i will be going back and do the 10% cooldown for spells instead. i am not too worried about spell crits. things are usually dead or dancing as i run by.

I hear this a lot, but I don't understand why.  Care to explain?

Ruin's base damage is 500 for 75 SP.  It takes Maximize and Empower, increasing its cost to 115 SP.

Empower: 75
Maximize: 150
Spellcraft: 65
Impulse: 120 (Twilight)
Implement: 21 (Twilight)
Archmage Tree: 25
Pale Master Tree: 30
Total: 486

That looks pretty reasonable for a Pale Master.  It's a fair estimate.  That puts Ruin at 2430 damage for 115 SP.

At 3400 SP, that's 29 casts for 70,000 points of untyped damage which it takes over seven minutes to deliver.  Why is this good?  I think it looks like shit.

Let's compare Ruin with Niac's Biting Cold or Eladar's Electric Surge.  I'll use the same 486 Spellpower.  Again, that's a fair estimate, though it's not the absolute max.

A Maximized and Empowered Niac's or Eladar's costs 65 SP.  Your first two casts cost 20.  You only Maximize/Empower on the third and following casts.  Building the triple stack costs 20 + 20 + 65, or 105 SP.  That's less than a single cast of Maximized/Empowered Ruin.

Let's go with six ticks per cast (it's actually seven, but nobody is perfect).  Each tick has a base damage of around 70.  At our 486 Spellpower, that's 340 damage per tick (not counting crits).  Over six ticks, that's 2041 damage delivered every 16 seconds.  And this can be maintained for 65 SP versus Ruin's 115 SP.  This is rough, but very roughly, the DPS output of the two main DOTs, once triple-stacked, is about the same as the DPS output of Ruin, and it comes at a fraction of the cost.  If you can stack both DOTs, you double the DPS output of Ruin at around the same cost.

Now Ruin is untyped damage.  So if mobs are immune or resistant to both Electric and Cold, then Ruin wins.  Is this a current problem?

You can also use Ruin along with Niac's and Eladar's.  But Ruin is VERY spell point intensive, and so I can't think of many situations in which a Pale Master would want to do that.

Your understanding & assesment of ruin is the same as mine.

This is Turbine though: If it's actually decent, it's not working as intended.

Ruin is okay for finishing off phylactery or correcting chaos in Fire Peaks ( when trakonz are too close, people are too fucking stupid which trakon aggro they have and there is no monkcher ).
Not sure that's worth more than epic spellpower or whatnot.
