Yes, DDO has gone with full-on P2W.  If you think it's not, you are a dumb loser.  Reasonable people can disagree about whether or not the P2W model is a good one, but only unreasonable forumtards and basement dwellers argue that DDO isn't P2W.  There are more of those in this thread than there are on the entire DDO Vault:

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/446913-Pay-to-quot-win-quot

Turbine seems to have done a pretty good job of easing folks into the full-on P2W model.  It won't be long before they can sell anything at all in the DDO Store and the game still won't be considered P2W by some of these forumtards.

We agree?!  Madness.  You are correct ddo is p2w.  Everyone who makes the " you have never played a Korean mmo " argument; they don't get it. Just because something is more p2w doesn't make ddo any less so.

The question is, is that a good/bad thing?

Fernando was right. They can pretty much get away with anything and have people on forums defend them. The common one is "someone needs to keep the lights on so my 10k posts on the forums stay forever and i can be a forum stah!"

So let's start this debate off.
What is your actual point? That anyone who argues against your strong and immutable point of view is wrong?
How does the perceived p2W affect you?

Let me know how you win DDO (other than the buttons)?

To short circuit your inevitable dismissive argument.
I am neither pro or anti P2W.  Yes you can buy things from the in game store that make the game easier or more convenient.
P2W is a simple derogatory term to imply some condescension toward game purchases that some believe undermine their l33t status of grinding for 4,000 hours to get a token/trophy etc.

If the store purchases don't unbalance the game, then I don't care.  I buy things when I can, and I play when I can.
What Joe neighbour does, does not really affect my enjoyment of the game, so I don't care.
I am neither envious or jealous of those that buy their way to "winning" - whatever that may be.

I also fail to see why this is such an emotive issue - it's a theoretical discussion with no right or wrong.

I don't troll.
I comprehend quite well thanks.
The very first sentence starts off with "if you disagree with me, you're a dumb loser" - which is the troll attempt?

You sure you read it?  The reason I ask is because the OP gave no indication of whether he liked it or not.  Does he approve maybe, but probably not.  Either way that isn't the discussion that was started.

You sir are stating an opinion as fact. If this was a solo game and not an mmo, I could understand and possibly even agree with your statement.

Turbine is simply selling the achievements of those that played long ago.

Very observant Shade.
I posted my initial thoughts and then expanded on them.
I actually thought it warranted further explanation.
My sentiments did not change, so there is no deception for you to make a fuss out of.

I am sorry that it is too much for you to read.
Your intellect seems limited to pithy 1 liners most of the time.

So my post was retarded in what way?  Because it disagrees with your viewpoint?  Was the language too complex for you? Oh, there weren't enough swear words and derogatory terms in it, so you couldn't understand it.  Sorry.

No.  Your post isn't retarded because I disagree with it, in fact I hold a very similar opinion as you do.  It was retarded because you tried to shift the topic nearly the same way as the motherboard posters do.  The discussion of p2w being good or bad wad not the point.

If it appears as though I was trying to subvert the thread, I wasn't and I apologise if it was taken that way.

I merely see the argument that DDO is full of P2W.
I asked Imaranger to define P2W and how you win DDO.  Despite the negative connotations of the term P2W, it is also subjective.  From examples given by others in other threads, it seems like DDO is middle of the road - others are far more into compelled store purchases etc.

My intent was not to focus on whether P2W (assuming this means in game items available in store) is right or wrong.  That others appear to be in denial, is because it is a complex and subjective topic.  Not going to rehash any of those arguments, as I really don't care that much about the discussion.

My point remains - so what if DDO is full of P2W?
How does it affect the individual player?
