So much nerd rage in this thread.

You can play this game without outright buying anything. You can run favor for tp, you can trade for tp, or you can pay for the game like everything in life, and go vip.

You dont need to buy a single thing to play this game at its extremes. But if you're cheap and, lazy, and casual, then maybe you're out of luck.

So fucking what? Play a different game.

Mainly I object to it for 1 reason. These fucking developers have changed their behavior due to this. Now they create content and systems with the goal being to spur additional store sales, not to provide quality entertainment that they were paid for.

Sums up my main objections nicely.

Turbine policy - glitches and poor coding resulting in interference of your game play or enjoyment will be ignored.  Glitches or poor coding on the developers side that at all benefit your game play or enjoyment will result in your character being banned and/or items from your inventory deleted.  Please report all bugs via our bug report...when it works.

Bullshit!  I call bull fucking shit!  You don't have any stocks and your not getting any dividend checks.  The wretched reality is your biggest investment is you magic card collection.  Your largest asset it your PC, which mommy had to consign for at Rent-a-center.
Take your economics lesson and shove it up your ass professor

Damn, your panties sure are wadded up, even after I took pains to be polite to you.

I do want to thank you, however, as you taught me something today, which is a rather unusual occurrence on an internet forum. After reading your post, I Googled "Rent-a-center". You po' folk sure have a funny way of acquiring basic things like computers.  Cool

Family, Country, and the US stock market. Although, in a pinch, any convertible currency or liquid asset will do.

Damn, didnt know that.
What is the reason behind that?
Seems stupid to do that.

If I remember correctly, each account automatically starts with 10 AS. However, F2P can't post or buy from ASAH. Otherwise, someone could farm never-ending free accounts and transfer a few shards at a time. Time consuming, but nevertheless would be a profit leak for Turbine.
Once you upgrade to premium, you get the "right" to use the ASAH, since you are now a paying customer and hopefully will most likely reach for the wallet again in the future.

False.  New accounts start with zero shards, however they have a small chance to get them from silver DD rolls.  Shards acquired this way cannot be used in the ASAH.

f2p players can pay shards for gold seal hires from the hireling vendors, that's about it.

Thank you for the correction.  I never tested using shards for hirelings, chest re-rolls, repairing item damage, ED resets, feat exchanges, or other non-ASAH transactions.

Oh yeah, those too, and I never tried buying the saga bypass with them, don't have shards on any of my f2p accounts.

This.

Before joining this forum I found myself pondering about this either. The system is much much more convenient and easier for the ones with a card in the pocket. Not my case, but I did spend real money in this DDO as a premium because I know the grinding as f2p would be too much tiring, with time and effort.

Yeah, there are limits for the free acc. And no one for the paying acc. But life isn't this way??

The rich and powerful must always win.
