are oxen castrated bulls?

I always thought that bulls were male cattle.

I was right!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ox

Not all oxen are castrated. Kinda like at how not all corpses are fresh.

Again with the wikipedia reference. Did I not already tell you that wikipedia is not a reliable reference due to the fact that anyone can edit it?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/oxen

Quote:
a plural of ox.
ox
[oks]  Spell  Syllables
noun, plural oxen for 1, 2, oxes for 3.
1.
the adult castrated male of the genus Bos, used chiefly as a draft animal.
2.
any member of the bovine family.
3.
Informal. a clumsy, stupid fellow

Yes, it has come to mean any member of the bovine family.. so I could have just called him a cow, but I specified that I meant a castrated male bos.

ox,  (Bos taurus, or B. taurus primigenius), a domesticated form of the large horned mammals that once moved in herds across North America and Europe (whence they have disappeared) and Asia and Africa, where some still exist in the wild state. South America and Australia have no wild oxen. Oxen are members of the Bovidae family.

The castrated male of B. taurus is a docile form especially useful as a draft animal in many less developed parts of the world. Oxen are also used for food in some areas.

I hope Britannica is reliable enough, if not I'll get the expertise of an impartial 3rd party in 12 hours.

Smiley you're very bad at this game. Are you a librarian?

I remember a certain "mocking" that I did, that you took as insane logic. For reference: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/mock I am meaning the first one.

Correction - wikipedia can be edited PROVIDED that citations can be provided.

I'm quoting myself because I was ninja'ed.

I use Wikipedia sources because I think that they're readily available for the unwashed masses. Note that the articles I link *do* have specific references at the bottom - like any approved Wikipedia article should. Also, yes - I do consider Thaz as an unwashed mass.

Smiley when I a while ago posted the channel pic of shat and xris talking about me and I said "you give me so much attention"... was me making fun of him for talking shit.

Undecided I guess I have to start adding a label to my posts with "by the way, I am making fun of you", since ppl here seem way too retarded to get it.

P.S. It doesn't matter one bit that the official definition of OX means a specific type of animal.. because that means that Sunny was wrong too, lol. What matter's is that I was referring to a castrated bull, which I specified. A lot of the time, the oxen were castrated as it would make them easier to control - and the word ox has been used to refer to the castrated version.

Now-a-days ppl often castrate male meat animals to prevent the bad taste of testosterone.

False again.

And false once more. Based on what you said yourself, oxen are castrated to make them easier to handle.

Also, of note, I was not wrong with what I said about oxen. Oxen are not specifically castrated bulls.

And as for what testosterone tastes like:

And are the wikipedia articles reviewed and the references checked before the article is uploaded? No? Didn't think so. Ergo my point.

Wikipedia is fine if you're looking for general information about something, but if you're trying to prove a point, then I could just as well go and edit the article after you've linked it. How about that?

I don't think you, specifically, can edit articles. I can edit them. You, however, can't.

But here's an article on beef animals: http://www.sdstate.edu/vs/extension/beef-castration.cfm
Here on pigs: http://animalsmart.org/species/pigs/swine-castration

Where does it say that testosterone tastes bad? The *meat* becomes tougher as the normal males develop more muscle and less fat.

Keep shoveling. You're digging yourself deeper in.
