Only when fighting boss, and that is when monkcher has furyshot.
By the time paladin hits 1 mob, monkcher already has hit 5 mobs in a line.
Put 5+ mobs in a line, 10k,  adrenaline, slayer, all dead, pally only started beating on that 1 mob.

Why?
It can die if it gets full sorround by enemies.
A palie can just straight out /well built and geared 28/ ignore red alert and kill whatever the fuck it wants.
Efficiency wise palie will out dps a monkcher, because defense has a big impact to offense.
IF you think good players kill every single fuck there is in a quest then you have a bad conception how playing a melle now is.
Example a wolf, a tree, a pure palie can all aoe burst any shit they want faster then a monkcher because they dont need to waste time to get a good line to use 1 ability that is limited in usage.
They can practically in any ee invis run til some champ has tseing and then get harried and kill shit to invisi again and braindead zerg again.
There is no risk involved playing a harmor char now, no skill, just braindead autoattack zerg, which means your efficiency is always the same vs monkcher which strongly relies on luck with adrenaline charge for epic elite solos.

The thing is, there are 2 sorts of players that play game in high end content.
First those that get wet when they see their name with highest kills number in pugs. /shuriken  dudes and pm players mainly
2nd those that dont give a fk and just zerg.

Those that prefer 2nd playstyle will consider monkchery to not be efficient nowadays.
Tho there is 1 sample where i could agree monkchery being good, if you box a monkcher bot for loot and ress him for boss fight.
But beside that i dont see any place beside raids where a monkcher is good nowadays vs melles

In non solo raids, and i can say even in raids now, melle are just stupid as fk and imo they currently til ranged power is added outperform monkchers

Well maybe things changed in the 10 days i didnt log heh, but really doubt, turbine is slower in balancing its game then my ex was to be pleased.
And trust me, that bi... took forever.

IF you have to run around to get a imp precise and keep a eye on not being hit to much, be vary and keep your distance, while a melle currently in ddo can ignore any incoming damage and always be in combat.
Then yes, defense is dps.
That is only the case in ddo, in any other mmo you cannot have nearly perfect defense and offense so the more offense you have the less defense, but being dead affects your overall dps.
In ddo a melle has close to no worries to ever being dead,  and playing some builds gives you superb offense.
So to conclude, in ddo defense = more offense due to more survival and ability to engage combat.
Aka defense = dps, failing to recognize that would be really sad

You do realize that on a good melee you can just run past everything, gather it in one room and cleave it to death. Get a red alert on a monkcher and you are fucked.
