Anyone have a decent qstaff build?

Sireth vs TF -- Sireth is the clear choice here right? Which means black dragon armor for the pierce, unless there is another option.

Centered vs Light Armor vs Heavy Armor -- This one I'm not sure at all, all seem to provide decent benefits, and I'm lost on how effective certain ones are. Centered gets me evasion, stances, ki strikes, and 1.5 weapon die(does this even add a decent amount of damage?). Light gives me all the benefits of the rogue tree, mostly a really good dodge score, but also the ability to make use of evasion. Heavy gives me a solid use of a paladin splash, making full use of their defender tree, essentially a massive increase in PRR/MRR +6 con/+20% HP but at the same time I lose evasion.

Class specifics -- Rogue seems to diminish after 12 on the core tree, while 18 and 20 are mildly useful, they seem very tedious to keep up and in my mind likely don't make up what a splash gives me access to. 13 is a key number I guess, gives me another feat, but it's not super important. As for splashes, Paladin gives me a shit load of saves, ability to leverage cha into strength, heavy armor prof if I choose to go that route. Problem is I'm not sure how good centered/light armor is, and it seems like such a waste to splash higher than 2 and not make use of the 6 con/20% HP. Monk gives me the centered option, some extra feats, but nothing too valuable that I can see. Fighter is a poor version of paladin. Druid for harrier?

May not be were you end up, but this thread has a lot of useful info.

Only issue with that is without 2 Pally, your saves (and Defensive roll %) are going to be fairly poor unless you are dex focused.  Also, the extra feat is a nice boost.

I have made some slight changes to that build after playing around with it at lvl 28 (dropped ISA and picked up GTHF was the big one) and changed some gear around (sticking with planar conflux set for the time being.. 15 PRR is helpful and no DPS loss)

Posted the updated build a few hours ago here:  https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/459818-Centered-Thief-Acrobat

You think it is worth taking killer from assassin ? Also does lethality really NOT work with sticks ? Saves are not a problem for rogues btw you already get +11 for being a rogue, +2 from monk and fvs for a total of +15. Rest is easy, by investing a bit in dex wearing +12 resis, +5 from gs (+3 balance of land and sky, +2 exceptional), +1 stone of change etc...

Killer from Assassin doesn't stack with quick strikes (both are Morale bonuses)

And no, Lethality doesn't work with sticks

Saves are not a problem for rogues btw you already get +11 for being a rogue, +2 from monk and fvs for a total of +15. Rest is easy, by investing a bit in dex wearing +12 resis, +5 from gs (+3 balance of land and sky, +2 exceptional), +1 stone of change etc...

I run a 80 Reflex save.. if I swapped over and went Str based with DM I would lose 7 or so points in reflex saves and 3% standing dodge.  Also, Sweeping Strikes now is very good.. I would lose DC's on that as well.

The only gain I would get would be a very minor boost to dps and the ability to use Titan cookies for a little more dps when needed.

Imo it is not worth the trade off.  the extra 7% chance that defensive roll doesn't proc when I need it to is not worth the ~1-2% dps increase.

As always though.. ymmv

You think it is worth taking killer from assassin ? Also does lethality really NOT work with sticks ? Well, for example the +8 dmg you would be getting from dm also scales will melee power and helplessness. It can easily become 30 Smiley. I like having more dps and 70+ reflex is more than enough imo.

How are you getting +8 damage.  Unless you are always running Titan and Owl Bear cookies.. you are looking at a +3 stat mod after Divine Might which converts to +4.5 damage mod.

With cookies it is a +8 stat mod or +12 damage mod.  As KtA gives the dex build +7 damage mod.. that is either 2.5 less base damage or +5 base damage more when you are acting like the cookie monster.

I agree that if you are eating cookies like a fat kid at x-mas you get a little more dps but other than that a Dex based build is better in every way.

Nah, you just need 42 Cha (you can get more) which is easy to acquire when you start off with 16 at character creation. No Cookies needed.

42 Cha (over my 38) would only give you +2 Str aka +1 Stat Mod aka +1.5 damage mod..

Why don't you post your 18/1/1 build that is superior.. I'll run the numbers and we can see the pro's and Con's

Anything else is just talk with no substance.

Just tanked a EE Deathknight with it and the build did just fine.

I wouldn't want to tank one in a bad group (where I end up with 2-3 deathknights) but he handled one Deathknight very well..

Not to shabby for a centered rogue

Look, you can either choose to spend 2 ap on divine might or 3x the ap on something similar to it (kta). What you do with your ap is up to you, but you are doing it wrong.

For strenght based at least.
I personally would do a 18 rogue 1 druid 1 monk simply because 1 w and rams outscale dmight due to mythic gaze that alrdy gives 4 str that is equal to 18 char, rams alone is worth 2 str and 2 damage which is same as lets say 12 charisma (2 str is 4 and 2 damage is same as 4 str so yea), then you also get benefits of shilly for lv 20 evenigstaff and temple staff that gives 1w.
Basically 1 druid splash is same as 30 char worth of dmight without shilly counted.
Its rather simple to figure out why fsoul is worse split.
By droping fsoul you can get more starting int/con/str for better kta and also wand and scroll mastery from herald which is t1 and bequile.

I mean, that is how i would do it, option is 2 palie for defensive roll supremality but i prefer 1 druid/1monk.
Could replace the 1 monk tho for something that could benefit the build more, no idea if 2 barb is viable for ear smash tho. Never even considerd that since wasting 2 class levels for a 1 target helpless inducer doesnt seem to hot to me /but sp boost sure is great

Wonder if shilly and cheaper wand scroll mastery do good for dex based rogue.
Its just shilly/bequile and mastery that you would get from that split for dex based

So dumb that it's all balanced around 18 levels of rogue now but I guess it's the new normal.

Tried playing around with 2 pally in a planner and it doesn't look very good. Waste a twist on DM so that's a possible 6 reflex twist you're losing, even with 44 or so cha you'll only be up 11 ref on Ash's build. Still not 100% from def roll and you also and lose some decent DPS so not looking worth it.

Bladeforged is bad too, 5 MDB for mithril is a joke so choose either weak sauce PRR or dodge, meh. Then there's the overpriced dmg boost and DM so you start thinking fuck it, harper for KtA like everyone else these days.

Only nice thing about pally is the 3W cleave that'll reset momentum swing, somehow they've managed to make 2 pally splash look not very good so kudo to Turbine I guess.

/2 barb could be cool if you like to zoom round a lot, get a single target stun too which could be alright for oranges and the new +150% SA dmg from melee power. People dis staff lunge but it's alright because  you can pass through dudes. You also get vault for another go at getting away, add in barb fast movement and it could be pretty fun.
