What are the chances that this game becomes open source when Turbine stops making money off of it?

...oh, wiat, you're serious? Let me laugh even harder.
Aside from all the many problems with this idea, like many video games, DDO incorporates several licensed pieces of technology(not licensed IP, as in pieces of software they paid for the privilege of using).
Long story short, making a game "open source" is not a simple matter of one company saying "Yeah, ok." There's a giant legal clusterfuck of rights management that has to be solved.
Let's put it this way: When Garage Games wanted to release the Torque Engine as Open Source(an engine they had written themselves), they had to re-write pieces of it, because it was the basis for the Tribes 2 engine and over the years, pieces of it had been licensed to other game companies. Its not simple, it costs money, and frankly software design via committee is not likely to improve the game much.
But, by all means, people should keep discussing this here and on the motherboards. We could all use more laughter in our lives.
