Crowd Control Cleric - Possible? How? (Read 2852 times)

	Instead of coing necro cleric I'm thinking of doing a cc cleric this time. But the only good spell for that clerics get is greater command. Splitting 5 lvls, and losing mass heal I could get mass hold with bard or greater confusion from warlock, but both would be lvl 6 spells (with heighten) with a dc based on cha. And spell pen on those would be just not be viable. Splitting more than 5 levels would give up mass cure critical, at this point going bard is much of a better idea. Thoughts?

Cometfall has a CC component. But it is Conjuration. Symbol of Stunning can work and is enchantment, but I've never built for enchantment on a divine because there are so few options. Luckily, the will saves on things like ogre and troll brutes are so low that, even if you don't build heavily for enchantment you can land it on high fort/low will mobs with little trouble on a wisdom/high DC based divine. Even in EE. It is better to build for necro and destruct or implode the casters and command the brutes.

	Sunelf, back door the AA for a nasty Paralyze DC, you could even splurge for the IPS with some planning.

	Soundburst, Holy Smite/Order's Wrath/Chaos Hammer, Blindness, Contagion, Power Word Stun (from DD) Schools are all over the place, so just max wis and target weak saves I guess.

	Comet, PWS and Sunburst sla is consistently great from 20 - 28. Comet and Sunburst is the only thing working on stupid elite reavers - but that's just two quests. Soundburst is great but you need really good spell pen for drow in low epics, then uber 76+ DC for Stormhorns - and that's pretty fucking impossible underlevel. Order Wrath is evo too, and against will saves so something like 64 works in Stormhorns, but it's not helplesness and just a Daze so it's really situational. Symbol of Stun and Command is alright, it's a bitch to build for enchant gear wise. Whatever school you would choose, it would be effective only against selected mobs, short duration and no helplesness. You take your twists, have caster past lives, pump wis, to get your primary school up, your other schools are fucked. And the biggest problem with all of this is then you are stuck with so low spellpower that bosses, deathwarded crap or immune crap is gonna fuck you up. Pretty sad fact that I am running fvs with basically just BB, DW, DP and Sunbolts, but pumping spellpower with okay DCs give you much better results than going for uber DCs. Because the developers are retarded and someone really really hates the idea of divine casting being a real thing. And it's been like that for few years. Build for spellpower on cleric, and occasional comet, Sunburst and pws - this one is really underused. As you might not know - Sunburst sla has been bugged for a long time, it has no save and no spell pen check, use it a lot. Howgh.
