Of the new deity feats the only one I'm enthusiastic about is Silvanus. Here's the breakdown of Silvanus feats:
Quote:Favored by Silvanus
Prerequisite: Level 1: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin
Race:Sun Elf, Purple Dragon Knight, Shadar-kai
Forgotten Realms characters only
You follow Silvanus. You are proficient with mauls and gain +1 to hit with them.
Quote:Child of Silvanus
Prerequisite: Level 3: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin, Favored by Silvanus
You follow Silvanus. You gain +2 to attack and damage rolls with mauls.
Quote:Beloved of Silvanus
Prerequisite: Level 12: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin, Child of Silvanus
You follow Silvanus. You gain +2 to attack and damage rolls with mauls.
Quote:Blessing of Silvanus
Usage: Toggled Stance
Prerequisite: Level 6: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin; Favored by Silvanus
You are a devoted follower of Silvanus, and your faith has been rewarded. Toggling this on gives you Blessing of Silvanus: You permanently gain a +4 natural armor bonus to AC, and Mauls you wield gain +2 to their Critical Threat Range.
The Beloved level is probably something to avoid (unless you go with 12+ levels of Pala/Cleric/FvS), but they only make you take Favored as a prerequisite for Blessing, so a 6th Paladin or Cleric who gets 2 deity feats by 6th doesn't have to actually burn a feat to get Blessed. FvS will get Blessed free at 6th just like Paladins and Cleric, and Beloved free at 12th, which syncs up with the shoulder cannon if that's your goal, and gives you Child and Beloved for free.
Mauls have a 20/x3 profile.
Improved Critical: 19-20/x3
Just kicking around some thought I was thinking about a 6 Paladin / 12 Fighter going Kensei.
- Kensei Focus: Picks and Hammers (which includes mauls despite the name). +1 to hit.
- Strike With No Thought gives +1 competence to multiplier, 19-20/x4. Also locks in at least 6 Fighter levels.
- Favored: +1 to hit.
- Weapon Group Specialization tier I/II/III/IV: +4 to hit, +10 damage.
- Keen Edge: +1 competence to threat range.
- Overwhelming Critical 19-20 +1 multiplier
18/x4 19-20/x5 with +6 to hit, +10 damage.
Child and Beloved will add +4 to the to hit and damage, but I'd probably not take them unless they came as a free feat. You'll be wanting to buy the entire THF chain up through Perfect, plus all the usuals, so feats might be too tight to spend on +2 to hit and +2 damage each, but if they can fit they certainly help.
With the remaining 8 class level you could run Paladin up for Holy Sword (not stacking with SWNT or Keen Edge afaik), go Monk and take One With The Blade to be centered with your maul, or swap Paladin for FvS and go 12fvs/8ftr for a decent amount of casting plus the option for the shoulder cannon.
Fury of the Flame ML16/Epic20 starts at 19-20/x3
Giant's Fist ML17-19/26-28 starts at 19-20/x3
Drow Maul of the Weapon Master ML21 starts at 18-20/x3
So a Drow Maul of the Weapon Master would have a profile of 16-18/x4 19-20/x5. Not bad.
There are probably ways to improve on this profile that I have not considered yet. This was just some kicking around of the concept and grabbing the low hanging fruit.
