Silvanus

Of the new deity feats the only one I'm enthusiastic about is  Silvanus.  Here's the breakdown of Silvanus feats:
Quote:
Favored by Silvanus
Prerequisite: Level 1: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin
Race:Sun Elf, Purple Dragon Knight, Shadar-kai
        Forgotten Realms characters only

You follow Silvanus. You are proficient with mauls and gain +1 to hit with them.

Quote:
Child of Silvanus
Prerequisite: Level 3: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin, Favored by Silvanus

You follow Silvanus. You gain +2 to attack and damage rolls with mauls.

Quote:
Beloved of Silvanus
Prerequisite: Level 12: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin, Child of Silvanus

You follow Silvanus. You gain +2 to attack and damage rolls with mauls.

Quote:
Blessing of Silvanus
    Usage: Toggled Stance
Prerequisite: Level 6: Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin; Favored by Silvanus

You are a devoted follower of Silvanus, and your faith has been rewarded. Toggling this on gives you Blessing of Silvanus: You permanently gain a +4 natural armor bonus to AC, and Mauls you wield gain +2 to their Critical Threat Range.

The Beloved level is probably something to avoid (unless you go with 12+ levels of Pala/Cleric/FvS), but they only make you take Favored as a prerequisite for Blessing, so a 6th Paladin or Cleric who gets 2 deity feats by 6th doesn't have to actually burn a feat to get Blessed.  FvS will get Blessed free at 6th just like Paladins and Cleric, and Beloved free at 12th, which syncs up with the shoulder cannon if that's your goal, and gives you Child and Beloved for free.

Mauls have a 20/x3 profile.
Improved Critical: 19-20/x3

Just kicking around some thought I was thinking about a 6 Paladin / 12 Fighter going Kensei.

- Kensei Focus: Picks and Hammers (which includes mauls despite the name). +1 to hit.
- Strike With No Thought gives +1 competence to multiplier, 19-20/x4.  Also locks in at least 6 Fighter levels.
- Favored: +1 to hit.
- Weapon Group Specialization tier I/II/III/IV: +4 to hit, +10 damage.
- Keen Edge: +1 competence to threat range.
- Overwhelming Critical 19-20 +1 multiplier

18/x4 19-20/x5 with +6 to hit, +10 damage.
Child and Beloved will add +4 to the to hit and damage, but I'd probably not take them unless they came as a free feat.  You'll be wanting to buy the entire THF chain up through Perfect, plus all the usuals, so feats might be too tight to spend on +2 to hit and +2 damage each, but if they can fit they certainly help.

With the remaining 8 class level you could run Paladin up for Holy Sword (not stacking with SWNT or Keen Edge afaik), go Monk and take One With The Blade to be centered with your maul, or swap Paladin for FvS and go 12fvs/8ftr for a decent amount of casting plus the option for the shoulder cannon.

Fury of the Flame ML16/Epic20 starts at 19-20/x3
Giant's Fist ML17-19/26-28 starts at 19-20/x3
Drow Maul of the Weapon Master ML21 starts at 18-20/x3

So a Drow Maul of the Weapon Master would have a profile of 16-18/x4 19-20/x5.  Not bad.

There are probably ways to improve on this profile that I have not considered yet.  This was just some kicking around of the concept and grabbing the low hanging fruit.

I haven't played in awhile and not sure what the state of healing is but I can say that if the build is viable and you have some enhancements free in Warpriest (at least 22ap) that I'd seen a player do some pretty cool things with Ameliorating Strike + high devotion numbers. He was pumping out some great no-cost healing every 15 seconds and for most quests he didn't lift a finger to heal anyone and neither did any of the melees in the group. I know that part is really an afterthought to the synergies you're examining here but it's a decent tool to keep in mind when you're fleshing this out.

With the game apparently being easy win, why not?
If a flavour build makes the game fun again, then why the hell not.

So McMarty, what would you know about a ten year old dead video for supposed losers?

Point was to get you to go over there, where you could read a post that definitely was a build post, and contains information of the kind a potential maul-wielder would be interested in.

But okay. Stay here and speculate about it instead.

Oh, Mookie, let me fill you in on a few things about yourself.

You love me like your Daddy.  It's so obvious to everyone except you.

You rush to mock me for a typo, because like any child you are shocked to discover that your Daddy isn't perfect.

You rush to point out that this thread is a week behind a thread in a different forum, because like any child you expect your Daddy to know everything, and it is frightening to learn that this isn't the case.

And as a child grows and learn these simple truths that everyone learns eventually, occasionally the child feels the need to act out out of confusion and fear over a changing world view.  Your posts directed at me prove this over and over again.

But it's ok little Mookie, Daddy is here for you, you don't need to be afraid.  Time marches on.  You'll start to see some changes, hair will start growing in places you didn't have hair before, but it's a natural process.  Just relax and let it happen, there's no need at all to lash out in anger over changes you can't prevent.  Your impotence is a natural thing, there's nothing you can do about it, so you may as well embrace it.

It's not so bad.  Revaulting was just trying to point me at a similar topic.   [] is just a tool.  Mookie is forced by his insecurities to stalk me and try to prove that he is better than his Daddy.

I've since with the prompting from Revalting have read the thread in the builds forum.  It's decent, but I don't see it getting the threat profile it claims.  I'm happy to be shown the error of my ways.

I've since realized that Revaulting was correct and this very thing I posted about was discussed in the appropriate section of the forums last week.  I'll catch up one day.

http://www.ddovault.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1477330451

Base maul = 20x3
+Silvanus (untyped) = 18-20x3
+Improved (enhancement) Crit = 17-20x3
+Holy Sword (competence) = 16-20x4
+Pulverizer (insight) = 15-20x4

If you go Divine Crusader instead of Legendary Dreadnought for whatever reason, Celestial Champion is also +1 range and comes out to the same 15-20x4 if you remember to reequip after zoning.

It also comes out to the same if you sub holy sword for the +1 range/multi from Kensei.

Any questions?

If you use the Giant's Fist Maul, the profile can be 14-20x4 IIRC.

Not sure that crit profile makes it worth using, but still.

Nope.  I was pretty hammered when I wrote my prior post, so higher math such as addition when paired with enhancements/feats/EDs was beyond me at the time.   Cheesy
