Game is fucking dead...it's not even fun to mock and ridicule it anymore. The people left playing the pile of shit are middle aged dudes that can't kick the habit and are to scared or lazy to play anything else.

Heh, reminds me of Neverwinter.. I tried playing it for a few days a couple years ago.. absolutely hated it.. gave up after a couple days and didn't think about it again till late last year.

A friend of mine talked me into logging in to run with her, she said she had all kinds of stuff I could have.. I logged in, and had some kind of exp boost sitting in my inventory, I clicked it and it took me from 12 to cap.. talk about making the game fucking pointless... even gave me 2 fucking pets and a horse.

Everquest is one of those games WoW ripped off with the concept of "play to cap, grind raids for better gear" but expanded on it with "add frequent expansions including new regions and harder content" - making the grind worthwhile, because now you had a level-cap increase along with a new region and new dungeons/raids/etc to play around with.

The problem, of course, is that with EverQuest 2 now 14 years old(and original Everquest FUCKING 18), most of your player base is and has been at cap for some time, leveling with each new expansion.

DDO got around this with TRs, but picture a world where korthos is a ghost town, and the only opportunity to group with someone comes when either another new player starts or an existing player decides to level an alt.

So it makes a lot of sense: let new players(who fork over the $$) start off at cap so they can jump right in to the REAL grind: end-game raiding. Or, make them powerful enough to be able to move around and work on other avenues of progression(such as crafting).

Its a good way to get new players interested in a game with a well-established player base.

If only I could find a game with an active combat system where there weren't any fuckers telling me to get get 5 of those and go kill 10 of those.
And with shitty graphics so I can play it on my shitty computer.

EverQuest had a decent concept with hotzones where you'd have a huge XP boost in certain zones.  DDO could adopt something similar on an adventure pack level: For the month of October, Necro 1, 2, 3 and 4 will have a 50% XP boost.  Not only does it help sell that adventure pack, but it funnels players into the zone which makes grouping more likely.  Incentives that build community are what DDO needs.  I enjoy being able to solo stuff, but the most fun in the game for me has been doing it with internet strangers that became internet friends.

Games like WoW offer limited account boosts to get a level 90 or 100 character instantly.  Grouping with those people in dungeons sucks because they have no idea how to play their character compared to someone who started out at level 1.

Not sure an experience boost should be the only way to make a zone (or pack) "hot." Maybe also increase the chest levels in that "zone." Maybe also add some stuff from the store to the zone's loot tables like cosmetics and pets.

Chests wouldn't do it, most of us have collectively said "meh" to lootgen. With the exception of searching high and low for decent Vorpal weapons, everything else just gets melted for essences.

What would do it for me would me maybe higher drop rates on named items, or like you said tossing in the occasional store item.

Also, if they were going to do that, they'd need to do a few different packs to cover level ranges. Would still definitely stimulate player interest, though.

I like Asheras' ideas.  I'd add an incentive to group, like 5% or 10% XP per non-hireling party member.  The game could benefit from incentivizing experienced players to group with new players who'd likely cost you 10% XP anyway from dying.

They got rid of that. One of the rare and few good things they did. It no longer affects the group.
