I didn't say that at all! But hey, this thread saved me the trouble. I popped in a few days ago to see if the servers were warming back up and that +19 one level after raid loot with +11s is enough to get me to uninstall again.

Are you surprised?

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

The loot looks very strong.  I'd prefer more "unique" effects like the PLIS, Jibbers, Ring of Ancestors, Bauble, Voice of Master, Royal Guard Mask, etc. than just straight up number raises, but you have to expect an expansion to invalidate old loot, to some degree.

That was my feeling. I don't care about stats at this point. If I change the gear on my monk I might get a 5% dps increase, and my DC caster is already a tetris nightmare.

I think for most, especially for me, the issue is that regearing involves so much convoluted shit just to gain a few dcs and stats. It creates an aversion where there should be excitement. Do you really need +5 to your DC? Do you want to recraft all your CC and Slavers while solving the most boring gear tetris puzzle ever?

This is the problem with the gear. Aside how boring and vanilla straight number increases are. And aside the lack of unique, build, or ability altering effects. The thought of having to jump into slavers again for 12 hours straight, then dicking around with the CC planner while farming collectibles and essences just to figure out what ability goes where and how, is such an unnecessary hurdle that kills the interest of players where it should be the exact opposite. And the random arbitrary ML scaling. Why is lv 28 gear 20 points behind other ml 28 gear?

I get that.  I feel the same way about re-gearing.

On the ML 28 gear log-jam, here is an easy fix:  Rather than updating the DoJ or Orchard or TF loot, I'd rather they went back and just lowered the ML on all of it.  Make the Orchard stuff ML 25 instead of 27.  Make the DoJ stuff ML 26 or 27.  Etc.  Move the older loot to where it fits in the new CC/RNG curve stats wise.  Then it has some usefulness when leveling.  Do the same thing with CiTW and FoT/eGH.  Move all that stuff back to ML 20-22.

Rather than updating the stats, which apparently takes time.

That is actually genius. Would be fucking amazing simply because it would show SSG has a fucking brain.

Lower the levels a bit more. DoJ ml 28 is 12 stats, which is like level 26 for CC. It's raid gear tho, so should be gifted a bonus; make that bonus ml 25. Necro 4 is ml 27 for +11 stats, that would be lv 23 for CC, but necro gear has a lot of effects and is easier to acquire than raiding or crafting, so make it ml 24. Do the same with the Amrath and Gambit gear. Lower gianthold and 3bc to 22?

No Improved Deception items, so we're still stuck using Epic Golden Guile (ML20), Seal of House Avithoul (ML21), Epic Backstabbers Gloves (ML25) or Ring of Deceit (ML25).

One Ghostly item, not including the 5pc Herald set.  The weapons don't have a red aug listed, so there's no option of using a Ruby of Ghostbane.  For the legendary weapons, Holy Strike (level 26 ED feat) looks more like a requirement than an option.

That's a pretty fucking solid idea. I know I've been ETRing so much that I sometimes don't even bother taking level 28 shit out of the cache and doing the gear shuffle.

I really feel like back in the old days, one of the great draws of greensteel and the shroud was that the loot was good at endgame (at 20 back then) AND you could use it for a large portion of your life if you were tring.

And I know there is no way this will happen, but a sentient weapon in my perfect world would be something you had to raid for at level 30 (or maybe 28 or 29 if you were badass) and that weapon you got was usable at level 20.

But now I"m just rambling. Blah blah good old days.

Warforged/Bladeforged continue to be the redheaded stepchildren of itemization.

Parrying and Insightful Resistance on the same item.  Um, yeah.

Heroic effects copied from mobo:

Earth: +10 insight bonus to ac and reflex. Seems to be working fine.

Wind: 2d12 elec dmg on hit, bleed for 1d8. Bleed effect on examine window reads as ravagers focused bleed, and seems more like 2d6 on hit and dot. Not dealing any elec damage.

Fire: Your attacks have a chance of blinding and causing a fear effect. Does not seem to be working.

Water: Your attacks have a chance of knock down. Does not seem to be working.

Need to find out which of these work with shuriken.

Just tested on my shuri. Water works for knockdown. Fire works for blind. Wind does nothing. Fuck earth.

Steelstar or coco posted that this is just the quest loot and that the raid loot may or should have some new effects..

I bet the raid will drop only shit to craft the new shitty weps, like Shroud.

Love,

I dig the atmosphere. The art direction and non-placeholder background music give the right vibe for Barovia.

The teleporters to various wilderness areas don't require astral shards, so they learned something from the Shadowfail days.

The legendary quests are level 31 N/32 H/33 E.

SSG should have baked this preview another two weeks: video stuttering/sync issues, voice overs aren't working, items with missing stats and broken effects, and too many placeholders. There's no way they release this as functional on Dec 5.  Their dev cycles are too long to iterate quick enough, and there's too much QA left to do even if they hero their way through Thanksgiving.

Sounds like they are ready to patch it then.

This preview is probably not the current working iteration, so they are likely farther along than what is on Lama
