Oh as I didn't see the annoucement until this morning...

Fuck you for phasing out the Frog Client, you're going to loose a lot of Frogs over that one.
And I really would like to know how you managed to circumvent the Loi Toubon...
( not that I care much, I play mostly in yankee and with the yankee client )

So Tolero would be Kormor's Belt.  Interesting.

The augments sound exactly like slotting gems in WoW gear, so I don't get why people think it's this big bad thing.

Finally, I don't see what the big deal is with FoS.  I'd love to see videos of all the posters here answering the same questions, so we can get a more objective measure of douchiness.  And just to do some level setting here, a dirty t-shirt with a lame slogan is not a better fashion statement than a hipster hat.

Okay, so no negative comments about his clothes or lisp.  How about the facts that

1) he knows fuckall about the actual game
2) he wasted god knows how many hours coming up with 100 different effects on PoWs which nobody cares about
3) he comes to these forums to try to tell people how good he is at his job when he is clearly very bad.

At the end of the day, he's still a smug a-hole regardless of how he's dressed.

If they are smart they just made it so that whenever you drink a PoW the game makes a roll on the double rainbow table, but that would be smart and this is turdbine we're talking about here so they most likely will code something new that will break lots of old stuff.

Exactly. And WoW's gem system scales in power with each new release, something which hasn't happened in the 3 years that DDO's augment system has been live.

There was exactly one thing FoS said I found noteworthy: You can overwrite existing augments without 'clearing' the item.  Yay for small things.  It really, really sucks cleansing a double aug slot item like Epic Boots of Corrosion.

Things players care about that FoS didn't talk about:
1. New augment effects.
2. Either salvaging already placed augments (unlikely due to the comment above) or making them easier to craft.  If they still cost 30 epic dungeon tokens and continue to not drop in MOTU, RAAAAAAGGGGGGEEEEE.

Things players dont care about:
1. Removing the device from the crafting equation.  I don't care if I have the option to swap augments in a dungeon, unless augments are as plentiful as lesser/greater essences.

Good players know they're good.

If they screw up, they learn from it.  They make mistakes, but they rarely make the same mistake twice.

If another player tells a good player that they suck, the good player will consider the input in the context of the person saying it.

I don't think I've seen a good player feel that they had to tell anyone that they are a good player.  They know it and are recognized as such by their peers.

There are players who tell other players that they're good or great or whatever.  Just because someone says they're good at something does not make it so.  Even if they stand on top of a chair and wave their arms.

Your experiences may be different than mine.

My experience has been that the people who yell loudest about how awesome they are usually aren't.

If you want to bitch about random loot/effects, then go back to the source.  Gary Gygax was the king of random loot tables.  It's in the DNA of the game.  I don't particularly like the randomness, but I also accept it's not going away anytime soon.

1.: We know he plays. He was the guy who built that heal amp shit DPS SolarPhoenix build. It's certainly no mystery why he sucks so badly at making DPS weapons. He was not a DPS player. He was a niche player. That is pretty abundantly clear in the types of items he designs.

2.: I'm wondering who is honestly going to stockpile potions of wonder for a rainy day, and drink them in a clutch situation. In my guild it's a rule to drink it as soon as you loot it. At that point the quest is generally over. The "over 100" random effects will do absolutely nothing because we're about to recall out and go to another quest.

Someone else already said: people drink them and say "oh that's neat" and then boom 10 seconds later no one remembers or gives a shit about what effect just proced. But then again maybe all these exit surveys say things like "potions of wonder are sucky! that's why I quit!"  Oh wait, the exit survey has been broken for months. Nevermind.

JohnnyD,

Muhammad Ali was certainly a spectacular athlete and great performer for press conferences.  Nobody would dispute this and I do not think anyone would suggest that he sucked at Boxing or showmanship.  He may not have been the best at monogamy, but I think most people have forgiven him for his extra marital affairs.

However, he was an outlier.  People capable of that level of performance are exceptions, not the rule.

I hope you are not suggesting that it's reasonable to equate someone posting a message in a thread in the Vault saying "I'm great at my job" with Muhammad Ali.

It's not a strict rule, but we all like to see if someone is gonna die.

We also have a new rule that you have to use hair dye when you loot it.  Grin Grin Grin

Nobody will get in trouble if they don't but it's fun.

Last I knew, ones of the same effect do stack. This would be moderately useful if you, say, somehow found two of the one that does major mnemonic - you could drink one, find out what it does, and save the other to start a new stack. And then somehow found more major mnemonic ones.

Maybe there's plenty of examples for both.

Some remarkable people are very humble.  They shy away from any kind of worship, even to the point of playing down any that comes their way.

Other remarkable people thrive on the praise.  They don't perform well unless they feel great, either telling themselves that they are or have others do it.

FoS is a remarkable tool tho IMO and has nothing to do with a hat or a lisp.

1) Muhammad Ali, as he said later, was not the greatest. The greatest is Allah.
2) Muhammad Ali did this for some purposes. There is some discussion what his purpose was.
3)....
4) For me he was the greatest.
