I'll be Honest.

I really won't be happy until there are Class Trees, and Prestige trees, along with points spent per tree counting overall.

I'm guessing though, having points within tree only is one of the things that makes this system much easier to code for Sad

Exactly why won't you guys address a busted Epic feat (Combat Archery)?

also this is your chance to prove the new producer is not a constant bed pooper. ship the enhancement pass with missing pres(class or racial) and we will know he poops the bed just like the old producer.

Please elaborate this, these are the ED feats. This sounds like you don't have any intention of fixing EDs.

We need the guy working on enhancements to stay on that until the xpack ships.

So there's only one developer who can fix non-functional epic feats and epic destiny abilities?

There's only one programmer working with DDO nowadays, and right now he's occupied with the ENH pass... and will fix his ED mistakes next summer.  Wink

Why don't you release that information?

Two features released during MOTU that have never worked:

2. Tsunami in Primal Avatar isn't calculating it's DC correctly.  I've never seen a mob knocked over.  Ever.  They always resist it.

I'm using it on a 46 wis druid and it knocks motherfuckers over all the time. I'd say at least 7/10 of the time. Unfortunately tsunami somehow dispels my earthquake, so it's not as useful as it ought to be. I have to be very careful with my positioning.

Although I don't recall if it knocked stuff down when I used it on my FvS... hmmmm...  thought provoking.  Another interesting note is that it seems water elemental form affects the MCL since I cast it at level 30.

Honestly this makes sense to me. The enhancement pass is clearly based strongly on the Epic Destiny work. The guy responsible for ED's was probably tapped to redo enhancements. It would be great if someone not the lead could look at the code and find the problem but if the guy who wrote it still works on the project I'm sure it would save time and resources to wait for him to return to that project.

I agree with you that the system is fine but there are some specifics that need to be addressed.  Some of those are class-breaking thought.

What're the odds of getting Aaron on the Vault?

I doubt this.  There are several interpretations.

The most likely is that he is saying is "We have 6 weeks to meet a hard target date.  It's all hands on deck.  Nobody is being re-allocated to something else until the x-pack is ready to ship."

That's common in any software dev environment.  As much as your PM tries to track the critical path and leave some pad in the schedule for risk, there always seems to be a point in the last month or so where you can't change features or deadline.  All you can do is throw more man-hours at the project to get it done on time.

He also used the phrase "old systems".  It might be that there is a difference in how things worked before the Enhancement Pass and how they will work after.  If that is the case, going in and fixing something that is going to be changing soon anyways might be a poor allocation of resources.  It'd be like if your car got sideswiped and you spent a lot of time washing and waxing the damaged side the day before you take it into the repair shop.  I am not clear on what he meant when he said "old systems" though.

Or, it could be that he meant that the developers don't care about it because it was someone else's baby and they care more about their baby (the enhancement pass) at the moment.

I'll go with the "don't care about it because it was someone else's baby" for $100, Ash.

It's the tectonic plates. You have to shift them to start the tsunami which repositions them and screws up the earthquake. Wink

fill out the surveys. They do carry weight. Execs understand stuff when I can make big stupid pie charts. Me just saying 'this is bad and here is why' doesn't carry enough weight. 62% of players hate the new Cleric trees...that carries weight. There is still more than enough time to change stuff. 6 weeks or so to ship. At this point last year...I can't tell you how much crap wasn't even playable.

I did fill out the surveys, at least twice after I finished detailed feedback and hit submit it failed because of a time out /  log out or some shit like that.

If you still have your FvS, can you confirm the behavior of Tsunami?  I had a 18 FvS/1 Monk/1 Wizard and while in Primal Avatar ED, Tsunami does not function as intended DC-wise.  Granted, last time I checked was several months ago.  Never saw it addressed in the release notes, so I haven't rechecked.

What are the odds he's already there lurking ?

MajMal has to have passed along the information that this is the place to be if you want to avoid fanbois and have adult discussions... ( as well as all the relevant warning about The Vault )

I am cautiously optimistic about the new lead and some of the other things I am hearing, but they really need to do the enhancement pass right and start fixing the old stuff, or even better, get rid of some of the systems that they added.

They really need to listen to people like Flav and others, but they make it so hard to give them the feedback anywhere else but here.

MM, make a thread here with questions you want answered or feed back and I am sure you will get it, that way it will be one place.

Thats what he did in his recent comeback. It was actually a copy and paste with answers from a thread here.

Actually no, he asked for questions here, gave us two hours for us to provide them, and then he gave the answers to these questions on the Official Forum.

The real answer is 'some' don't want what the enhancements are bringing. I deal with what I am given, I said my piece in 2011 about enhancements, in 2012 and this year too. There is an upside, and is in a better place than I ever expected. The silver lining is creating new trees is far simpler now than the old way. That is the biggest reason why PrE's were not created. Now it is possible to expand out the system easily.
Here is the thing about MMO design...for better or worse...it is never done. The release day is August. The system is not finished. With Aaron, he will listen to the fanbase and not abandon a half baked thing.

As a long time paladin I can safely say your not giving me any new insight here, as for half baked things I have been playing them for a long long time...

Take DoS for example and how you have messed up HotD/KotC lol

And the best way to give us hope that the new system will work is to acknowledge that you simply cant organize yourselves to fix the old stuff which has been feather_of_sun'ed for months or years.

I did say b.roken not FoS'd but I guess its an appropriate auto-replace.
