It is pretty funny reading the over-reaction.

Is it a product that can be abused by virus code? Yes, if left running - but so are other services that are running.

Did they do a poor job describing what it did and an improper EULA? Yes.

Did they screw up and leave a service running when it wasn't needed? Yes (just like Awesmium isn't needed all the time).

Is there a subset of players who will be impacted due to the association with peer-to-peer by providers? Yes, but that is a stigma of the provider.

Yet, this is not the same as the wall. The risk isn't that great.

That is if they can get past the double login/slow data loading bugs.

It would be nice if they could address the launcher issues and just redo one more from scratch if need be.

The Double Login issue is on top of their To Do list.

The problem is that it's not easy to qualify.

From my experience it's a problem caused by the size of the files and their internal fragmentation... But I have no proof.

What I mean is that while the PC is trying to load all the textures and game logic from an HDD it does not send the keepalives towards the server... ( and do not acknowledge the ones from the server ) Thus the red link once it's loaded and the immediate disconnect once the client realize that he is missing more keepalives than allowed.

No, I really cannot prove it... I haven't tried to wireshark it, and my work Laptop does it only randomly. ( it's not reliable... some days I'll connect fine other days I'll have to double connect )

Having some wifi in the loop seems to increase the chance to have the double login though.
( once again I can't prove it )

Having a SSD where DDO and the Graphic Card drivers are installed does immediatly remove the problem.

Does DDO-ML still work?
I've exhausted every option (including moving DDO folder to a shallow path)
it just wont move past "Done...fuckthis" and nothing happens.
My frustration is over the limit :/

DDO-ML works fine IF Ghallanda is online.
There seems to be some code in it for checking a server status, sadly it will always check Ghallanda and then stop working regardless of the server you want to connect.

Well that turned out to be a poor design choice.

Except Ghallanda is online right now.
This problem has been mentioned in the original thread, the only solution provided was to move the game folder to a :/C directory. This didn't help me.

Hmm, just started DDO successfully via DDO-ML.
Did you check the 'ddo-ml.ini' file?
The 'directory=' setting for the ddo game path had to be shortnamed (without spaces) in the past,
eg. "D:\GAMES\DDOUNL~2\"
Furthermore check the correct spelling of the server in the "server=" setting.

As long as G-Land is up both DDO-ML and PyLoTRO still woks...
I can certify that PyLoTRO was working ( on my computer ) yesterday evening when I logged on.

PyLotro stopped working for me for a long time now.
Also, the Downloadfileslist.html workaround for loading screens stopped working, I even found the new version that's called EN_downloadfileslist and tried to modify it, but DDO crashed after that.

DDO-ML didnt work for me the first time I ever tried back when Akamai crap was out,
it didn't work for me when I tried it again a while back, I was too frustrated to find the fix.
And now I decided to give another go this time around, but alas nothing helps.
GUI just says "Done...Myaccount" and that's as far as I could get it to work.

Ddopreaload is the only thing that still works me, at least.

I have windows 7 and 64bit just a fyi

Are you the guy who sent me a PM on the forums?

If not, check the path variable and turn on debug=1 in the ini file and paste it here (make sure to delete your password from the log file).  If it's just going straight to "account...done" then it's probably not finding the DDO directory correctly.

TurbineLauncher.exe.config also needs to be in the directory as it contains some important XML data IIRC.  (That should be there in a fresh install).

Turbine -> DDO -> raw -> de/en/fr -> logo -> make all the shit in there read only.

Alright, I think I found the reason.
I just had a derpa hunch with Subscription value in XML.
I actually forgot that there was some sort of subscription nickname on my account  Angry

So, I was able to launch my game client but while it was loading it crashed with an error:

Logon server is full. Try again later...

They made a chance in a U21 or Y22 patch that broke it. Since they also did it in LoTRO I was able to find the fixed PyLOTRO version...

I'm too lazy to find it here in The Vault, I know I did post it... but here you have the linkie for the official forum post where I give the fixed version :

Along with my Directx 11, I installed 9.0c (all of the updates before discontinuation)
I play the game with 9.0c and don't bother with 11.

The most broken epic PL in the game is the ridiculous AC buff from martial PLs. But when you include all the inherent benefits from reincarnation, the thing is above the roof. The benefit from TR was supposed to be minimal, but now it is game breaking. start a new character and you will feel, you will get raped in heroics.

Personally I think lower heroics on new characters are harder than Legendary Elite content on a character with good gear and has all destinies farmed.

Wow.

Have you EVER gone to Law School Feyn? Have you EVER been asked by a United States Senator who is now the Vice President of the United States to write a paper just for him on a particular topic of Constitutional Law for his use as a Senator? Have you ever been asked to help a very notable Harvard PhD turned Constitutional scholar with his very-well received book on Legal Philosophy and Constitutional Revolutions? Have you ever been offered a job as a Deputy Attorney General BEFORE you even graduated Law School?

No? Then STFU you fucking amateur.

I don't believe it was implemented properly in DDO (I know that phrase is totally out of character).
DDO does run under DX1 and newer content looks nice, but....
If you're having any issues with your game, the first thing to do is revert to Dx9.
It appears to be the root cause of a lot of seemingly unrelated issues.
DDO client has memory leak issues, and this seems to be exacerbated by DX11.

Anyways, I've solved all of the issues with DDO-ML and it works like a charm now.
had to update Nvidia graphics driver and that was it for a last step.

Still, it's best to use ddopreload from a cold boot.
