It looks as it Turbine has implemented a form of the DDO Preloader into the launcher function. It now loads all the files into the cache before you input the login info. Seen it with lama launcher, live i use ML loader Cheesy

Saw that too, but it seemed too fast to be loading all the files.  Maybe just a subset of important files.

I believe they said it would be preloading the client_gamelogic file, which is under 300 MB.

Still lags like a mofo, whereas preloader doesn't.

yup, just client_gamelogic.dat is preloaded.

That's what Cordo said in the Preloader thread.

Yes, we are planning to implement a change for Update 23 that we hope will take care of the so-called "Double Log-In" bug. The DDO game launcher will have the option to "preload" the client_gamelogic.dat files, which can speed up initial game load and resolve an issue that could cause players to face an initial dis-connection to the game world upon first log in. Players currently utilizing third-party tools should no longer need to use them once Update 23 is released to the live servers. This functionality will be enabled by default if you have more than 2 Gigabytes of memory on your computer, and can be disabled in the game launcher options (under the heading Pre-cache gamelogic.)

Ill just stick with preloader.

Half-assing fixes, resulting in a non-fix.  I know we're all surprised.

Half-assing took 2 years, imagine how long it will take them to actually fix it.  Grin

I thought that was a feature!

The double log-in makes their log-in numbers multiply by AT LEAST 2.

A better fix would've been to release DDO ML as theirs.

I expect a producer's note to include words to this effect:

Quote:
Update 29.1 will include a change requiring a client restart whenever a character enters a new instance.  This is to address a recently reported zone-in problem to certain areas such as Sands of Menechtarun.
