1) Severlin is officially the new executive producer. He said some things in his letter that might lead one to believe that he isn't so familiar with the actual game. For example, he referred to epic destinies as "epic enhancement trees". This concerns me.
At least we have a Producer who actually interacts on the forums, although with that said, he'll probably stop now......

I'm in two minds about the DDO knowledge.
Sure, some contextual knowledge is necessary to make informed decisions. And sometimes being too close to the detail can be a bad thing as "you can't see the wood for the trees."
As a developer, he did need to know his stuff, but as Producer he can get away with less knowledge.
To compensate, he should rely on the PC and the more experienced forumites to let them provide balanced analysis. There is no way he can ever learn as much as many of the hardcore players know, so he should listen to them. Based on history it probably won't happen though, but let's see.
It would be interesting to see whether the choices for 2015 are his choices, which would mean he has listened to the players because Epic GS was off the table in 2014?

2) Monster champions will have a chance to drop an ingredient or collectible ("mysterious fragments") that can be turned in for junk.
I like the paraphrasing.

I don't recall Sev using the term junk.

3) They plan on adding a new class, Warlock, this year.
Not sure the game really needs resources diverted into this atm.
New classes require differentiating (not sure what they will do in terms of DDO mechanics to make it different from Sorc? Maybe like the Drow Priestesses?

), it will also need to be released with enhancement trees, maybe an ED, and then there is balancing - lots of work. Probably better spent elsewhere when there are so few resources left.
In a growing game, adding new ways to play/experience it is critical to keep the enthusiasm up. When a game is on the decline and entering the twilight phase, not sure how another class will help? Some might come back for a few days, play it, find it is inevitably badly bugged (until 3 or 4 patches in) and leave again in disgust.

4) Epic Shav and epic vale should be coming this year. This will include "corrupted greensteel" that will probably be limited to non-weapon slots to avoid either invalidating or being invalidated by TF and sentient weapons.
This is a logical choice.
This is an easy out with Epic Vale already mostly done for them.
I know people want new content, but if we look at their new content released in U24, it was pretty uninspiring. The reality is they don't have the budget for resources to do much new content. TOEE might be it for 2015.

5) Level 30, obviously.
Not so sure that is a good idea.
It doesn't really add much to character power anyway, just makes the ETR treadmill longer.
Get your ETR's done before then.

6) They seem to have pushed the mabar replacement down to next Autumn.
Disappointing - was curious to see what it was going to be, and I need more Mabar items crafted.

We'll also be getting a mimic festival for some reason.
WTF?
Well, we know what the "if you like chests, you'll like this" comment was awhile ago.
That sounds positively annoying, not fun.
I guess the griefing and ultimate early termination of the event should be entertaining to watch.
