That's exactly why we did it. We run an email server which made us a high value target for spamming operations. We tried manually doing firewall rules for offenders for awhile but it got to be a full-time job for someone just keeping up with all the incoming spammers. Our country IP blocker got rid of that headache and had a huge impact on spam issues.

Same here.

I got tired of playing the weekly whack-a-mole game on the latest flavor of the month spammers.  Using that countryipblocks site, I generated CIDR lists for the most frequent offender countries and blocked them.  Doing this reduced the time I spend dealing with SPAM emails by a good 5+ hours per week.  Luckily, we have very little reason to receive business emails from entities outside the US.

Enabling SPF validation checking on our customers' email domains (at least the ones that have proper SPF records) helped cut down on a lot of the spoofed emails coming from inside the US, too.  I just wish more companies would setup their SPF records properly so I could enable it across the board.

Well, I learned enough about our company's blocking to open up the store. Still really annoyed they didn't bother to do anything to make the store not appear to be running out of a Russian money laundering company but hey, it's Turbine. Smiley

With the Offer Wall in their history of great ideas, we should be so lucky to have Turbine using a Russian Money Laundering service.

they will probably congratulate themselves on how long they "kept it going" never able to see that it could have easily managed to keep itself going for far longer if they had just meddled far less drastically and with some semblance of an actual gameplan.

Hearing something has "merit" but we don't have "time" kind of says everything about how Turbine works on things.

everyone but turbine knows that we are sad they are destroying our game

I don't make the game, I just get tested what they build. Sorry you are not happy.

DDO is easy to summarize - the greatest game to suck the most ass.

Turbine - So incompetent that we are skeptical when they report their own incompetence.

Other companies will settle for shitting out garbage, Turdbin actually prefers to. Especially if they can get us to buy it, that just cracks them up.

Breaking something and putting it back together isn't as good as not breaking it to begin with, it's not even close.

Devs do not care what players want - they already have an agenda and give out token gestures so the paladins can feel worthy.

The DDO devs aren't motivated by a positive user experience.

That'd be a hell of a Superman 3 move. Not sure he had the chops for that. Wink
