Anyone picked it up yet? Any good? I'm probably going to wait until after the Bethesda Beta testing phase (otherwise known as the first couple months after release) and see whether it's in the Steam Christmas sale.

I'd definitely wait it out til Christmas. The game is nice, there are some usual bugs since players are the QA for Bethesda.

In general if you liked Fallout 1 or 2, this is another Fallout 3 compared to New Vegas. Very modern, slightly dumbed down to a degree. The only item with durability anymore is power armor. However, they sort of made perks more relevant by combining skills into both perks and special as a dumbing down that isn't painful to the hardcore fans. I'd definitely wait for mod support and to see the mods people will roll out of fix the issues that are there, to make things more 'normal', etc.

Robbaz has been putting up his Fallout videos on the youtubes, and it's been a lot of fun to watch him play.

If you don't mind some spoilers, it should give you some idea of what to expect and whether or not it's for you.

Yeah, I really don't like spoilers. I don't even want to read reviews, which is why I was just looking for some generalized comments on here. My colleague got it last night, but he's WFH today, so I can't bug him about it.

Haven't gotten too far along, but so far I'm enjoying it. The only thing that really bugs me is the obviously console-centric UI design. No in-game way to change FoV, Mouse Acceleration enabled by default with no in-game way to turn it off, and a pretty high number of "reserved" keys that you cannot remap (which, if they happen to be keys you're used to using for something other than what they've been locked to, will be very frustrating). I preordered it and don't regret it, but if you haven't bought it yet you might want to wait until the first big patch or mod support.

A friend of mine, quite a gamer, has played Fallout 4 quite a bit now and his comments are (he is a bit of a graphics whore):

Game is quite nice, graphics are OK, but Witcher3 are better. So not "last generation game".

Building settlements: he doesn't like it, he hopes it is not obligatory.

Exploration: very nice.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard.

I think I'll wait until its on sale and modded to fuck, then play it the same way I played New Vegas, never actually completing the main story and just wander round the wasteland roleplaying something stupid. Don't think I'll ever reach the heights of this guy though.

The boston setting is beautiful.
Some characters are pretty interesting (although they are uguly as piss).
The main plotline is amazeballs until the ending.

*spoilers*
You get to the end and will have to side with one party murdering everyone in the other 2 parties. No prisoners, no discussions between parties. It's all a fight over whether or not we should kill the sentient-robot-slaves, set them free, or continue the way things are. If you think of the synths as the blacks it takes on a humorous direction.
