Notes:

We have done a character wipe so players can look at Reaper with their most updated characters.
The Lamannia DDO Store is currently unavailable due to a technical issue.
Remember that both Reaper and the new free quest are NOT coming to the game with Update 33 Patch 2, but will tentatively arrive in January.
Update 33 Patch 2 is set to release before the holidays, most likely.
We have a small amount of Reaper rewards in, which are a special form of Mythic Bonus applicable to items in Reaper. Rewards are in a very early state, so anything you see may well change. That's why we're focusing on gameplay, gameplay flow, and difficulty feedback this time around.


We'd love to get your thoughts on Reaper difficulty and the new quest, along with other things you see by actually being on Lamannia. While forum theory-crafting is nice, it's not as valuable as actually checking things out yourself.

At this time we do not have a specific dev meetup planned for this preview.

Here are the Release Notes for Update 33 Patch 2 and Update 34 on Lamannia, released on Wednesday, December 14th. These notes will change over time.

Of Special Note:


Reaper Difficulty (for Update 34) - We've updated Reaper Difficulty with various bug fixes, systems improvements, and development work. You can enter most quests and raids on Reaper Difficulty through the quest entrance UI.

Tower of Frost (for Update 34) - A new, free quest is now available for preview! The quest-giver's name is Crawben Bix, and can be found in The Marketplace near Cydonie and the Gianthold NPCs. The quest is level 14 on Heroic, and 28 on Epic.

News and Notes (For Update 33 Patch 2):

Classes

Monks have had some updates:
Monk finishing moves now incorporate Stunning bonuses into their DC calculations.
Ki Shout has had its cooldown reduced to match Intimidate, and its Ki cost lowered slightly.
Meditation of War is no longer considered a Defensive stance.
Flash Bang should now add Stunning DCs.
Ki Bolt now scales with 3x Melee Power, and adds Stunning DCs.
Incinerating Wave now scales with 3x Melee Power, and adds Stunning DCs.
Cauldron of Flame's damage has changed to 1d2 Fire Damage per Monk level, scaling with 2x Melee Power, at each tier, to a maximum of 10d2 per Monk level before scaling. In addition, while wielding a quarterstaff inside your Cauldron of Flame, you gain +20 PRR, +10 MRR, and +15% Dodge that ignores Dodge Cap.
Serenity grants an additional boost to Cauldron of Flame: While wielding a quarterstaff inside your Cauldron of Flame, you gain +5 to hit and damage, and a +1 Critical Multiplier.
Serenity now grants a +15% attack speed with quarterstaves.
Henshin Mystic has a new Tier 5 ability called Henshin Staff Training: +3 to hit and damage with quarterstaves.
Lighting the Candle now deals abotu twice as much damage as before.
Void Strike now adds +1 to Critical Threat Range and Multiplier with its attack.
Shintao's Touch the Void Dragon now also passively grants +1[w] with handwraps or while unarmed.
Shintao's to Seek Perfection now also passively grants +2[w] with handwraps or while unarmed.
Ninja Spy's Diversion now also grants +5 Sneak Attack Dice for 20 seconds when activated.
Ninja Spy's Ninja Master now also passively grants +5 Sneak Attack Dice.
Diversion and Touch the Void Dragon no longer share a cooldown.
Hit boxes for monks with handwraps have been restored to their previous size.
Every Light Casts a Shadow should no longer give negative levels to friendly members of your party.


Combat

We've corrected a long-standing bug where groups of enemies would not aggro correctly. Players will find that they can no longer use a ranged attack to pull singular enemies from a group without aggroing nearby enemies.
Bluff and Deception will no longer cause bosses and enemies using ranged attacks or spells to turn around. This corrects an issue where ranged enemies would stop attacking after being bluffed or affected by Deception, and improves the enemy combat experience. Red-named bosses are still affected by sneak attack damage vulnerability.
Raid and named bosses can no longer be champions.


Crafting

We've corrected some text display errors in Cannith Crafting where there was a conflict between where the crafting machine says a shard can go and where the shard says it can go. The following effects should be allowed by the crafting machine in the listed slots, and their respective shards should list these same slot locations:
Armor Piercing - Prefix: Weapon, Suffix: Gloves, Trinket
Insightful Deadly - Extra Weapon, Shield (Bound)
Spell Resistance - Prefix: Cloak, Belt, Armor, Ring, Trinket
Parrying - Suffix: Helm, Belt, Boots, Trinket, Extra Slot: Bracers, Armor
Weapon damage effects: Acid, Cold, Electric, Fire, Sonic, Force, Light, Negative - Prefix: Weapon
Deathblock (Bound only, unbound properly showed belt) - Suffix: Belt, Armor
Doublestrike - Prefix: Belt, Gloves, Trinket; Suffix: Weapon
Doubleshot - Prefix: Belt, Gloves, Trinket; Suffix: Weapon
Incite - Prefix: Helmet, Trinket; Suffix: Weapon


Items

Many old loot effects that were made specifically for old-style handwraps now work properly on updated handwraps.
Vampirism and Lesser Vampirism now provide their proper effects on handwraps.
Heroic and Legendary Greensteel handwraps are now available!
The Amulet of the Medusa no longer claims to be a Menace of the Underdark pre-order ticket.
Scaling Melee and Ranged Alacrity 10% is now applying its proper bonus.


Quests and Adventure Areas

Maps: Fog of War no longer conceals quest and portal entrances.
Against the Slave Lords
Crossbow-using half-orcs now actually shoot their crossbows.
Fixed an issue where a boss' escort would not aggro with him.
Monsters should no longer get aggro through secret doors.
Fixed a ladder which was causing some problems due to physics clipping.

Temple of Elemental Evil
A frog will no longer draw aggro. Why would someone get angry at a frog?!?

To Curse the Sky
Abishai will now stop flying when they make a basic melee attack.


Known Issues:

Some quests are displaying a String Table Error instead of their XP Reward on Reaper difficulty.

Well, damn.  Sorry Fran(k).  There goes your chances of soloing Hard difficulty.  Guess it's Normal for you now.  My condolences.

On a serious note, a pure Henshin quarterstaff monk looks solid now.  Might still be a flavor build but it shouldn't be terrible.

hot damn, greensteel hand wraps!

I'm also really excited about fog not covering quest entrances. Not being able to find quest entrances in explorers has been a number 1 issue for me, drives me nuts and keeps me from joining a lot of groups.

When will they make the everbright weapons cheaper to make? They are unbound at lvl 400 crafting. dope huh? Then on top of it that shit costs a ton of new mats as well. Cant get everbright anywhere else now days.. thats fucked..

oh and when are they gonna make picking up von 5 a lot quieter? Thet shit blows my eardrums everytime i pick it up for years now.

Or do you think they could get rid of massive responds at the end of the 2nd amrath quest? Prolly not.. all this shit im talking about is hella hard to fix.

Will be interesting to see how the ranged mobs not turning around when hit with deception plays out.  I'll second (third?) the excitement for greensteel handwraps.  Might actually take a fister life.

That was my thought too.   Not to knock this list of desired changes too hard, but I thought this statement exemplified the problem with their updates/testing a bit too well:
Every Light Casts a Shadow should no longer give negative levels to friendly members of your party.

Why should? They can't even put out a fix that's been needed for years without saying, "we think it might be fixed, but you never know, not like we can be sure how these things work in production."
  

The USA is having so many disasters and tragedies you'd almost think it was built on thousands of ancient Indian burial grounds.

The extra 3[W] from Shintao seems interesting. 

The staff builds certainly look like they might have some solid performance.  That Cauldron of Flame thing is going to do an AoE fire that starts at an average of 15 damage up to 150 on the final 30 second tick with 2xMP, which suggests damage between 45-55 up to 450-550 on average?  Added to +20 PRR, +10 MRR, and 15% Dodge without cap, +5 to hit and damage, +1 crit multiplier.  And you get that 5 times per rest.  Along with the capstone adding 15% attack speed buff overall and a tier 5 that gives +3 to hit and damage overall?  I'm not sure it's going to make it top tier DPS, but it does seem like it will be more competitive.  Especially while you have that cauldron of flame rolling.

And the Ki Bolt looks like it will hit for about 350-400 on average at cap (force and fire damage combined).  For 5 ki on a 3 second cool down. 

If only fire damage wasn't the most resisted/immune energy type in the game...

The issue with the cauldron is upcoming reaper, guildie was testing 5 and 10 skull lod and he had a dot that did 1000 damage on him from a fear reaper /was aligment or untyped damage so cant reduce with mrr. (he plays a 3x compl warlock thingie, went into melle range to test how much they do and things he reported so far is that shining and temp hp are the key and your selfhealing is giberish outside of pm healing which seems to function correctly, but il try to find a way for selfheals)
So the defacto as it is for reaper /this round/ will be ranged kiting builds /that dot comes in effect when you are near it, its like a aura.
Which makes cauldron interesting from a techincal dps only calcs standpoint yet no use at all ingame.
Will test myself on couple melle builds how 10 reaper is for melles, if anyone got suggestions on builds hit me up here /just waiting for lama char copy since char is 3x n such gibers as i want to test on a fully opted char.
(how long does transfer take now? Last time i was on lama it was still copying from the website)

technically i think if he was too fat to succeed, he would be doing a sit up or a crunch. and if hes too stupid to stop trying, he will be doing multiple sit ups or crunches. this will burn excess calories, strengthen a variety of muscles, eventually result in weight loss and increased flexibility. one day he might be able to successfully suck his own dick through persistence. and with the amount of attention you two show one another its clear you are both loved by both yourselves and each other. it is for these glaring reasons that i believe every single concept relayed in your extremely short post is inaccurate.

Will test myself on couple melle builds how 10 reaper is for melles, if anyone got suggestions on builds hit me up here /just waiting for lama char copy since char is 3x n such gibers as i want to test on a fully opted char.
(how long does transfer take now? Last time i was on lama it was still copying from the website)


By bringing ranged DPS so close to melee DPS, they have shot themselves in the foot with melees.  Because there is just no reason to put yourself in harms way when you can do 75%-110% of the DPS a melee can.  You have ranged characters that can only be hit 1/5 or 1/8 times when a mob can actually get into melee range and get an attack off against them.  As a result, to put them in peril, the one time you do connect, it needs to be brutal.  But the difference in PRR/MRR/AC/HP is so small between the melee and the ranged that if you are one shotting the ranged, you are one or two shotting the melees too.  Who get hit much more often. 

As long as you can do 75% (at worst) of the DPS of a melee with 25%(at worst) of the risk, ranged combat is going to be the optimal path.  Either the DPS needs to be much worse or the risk of death needs to be higher in order for melees to be viable in reaper. 

Unless you set the difficulty level where it doesn't matter because either can complete without too much challenge.  (which is where we are now with EE and LE).

Character copy is working weird. Seems like any toon that has codex runes wont copy.  If I take them out of inventory the toon copys no prob.

seemed to work fine for me. have 2 toons with codex runes in inv tab and had no issue.
