	Copyright laws varies between countries. The Us law is not universal. Here's, it's 50 years after the death of the author. Do the maths. In some countries (including most of The Commonwealth) there's just a few years left.

If the current DDO & LotRO crew "bought out" Turbine's interests in the games and formed their own company, Standing Stone, they might have an actual pecuniary interest (instead of just receiving a paycheck) in DDO and LotRO doing well. If so, the two games might actually get better.

Not to mention there is nothing stopping them from finishing their ultimate vision they started 3 years ago. These people who have developed skills in only fucking things up, alienating the player base and making weak excuses to cover their fuckups now have full access to do as they please. If it was just Daybreak I would have higher hopes but it seems they are just there for promotion and infrastructure. If it was a bunch of SPED's amped up on adderal involved in the buyout I'd feel more confident. I guess we will see where things go after Thursday sales. I wouldn't be surprised if concessions are given to the fanbois like head SPED Shoemaker while the people that have been in DDO for 5-11 years get coal in their stocking.

I can't see myself complaining if DDO stayed online for another decade.

That game ran for a LONG TIME and offered a lot of room for lateral expansion. I know people who've been playing it from the start, from beta... hell, one guy I know was playing with the children of a few of his original guild mates, who hadn't even been born yet when the game launched. That is seriously the end of an era, right there. Wonder if Turbine is going to finish the private AC servers they promised before it closes?
