U35 Lammania Preview Schedule
Hey, all! Our current tentative U35 Lammania preview schedule is as follows:
Wednesday 3/1/17-Friday 3/3/17: Super last minute notice early preview
Tuesday 3/7/17-Thursday 3/9/17: Our full U35 Lammania Preview
Both of these preview's will contain all of U35 (features in various states of polish). We are particularly looking for eyes on:
A new Raid!
The new playable race: Dragonborn!
We'll have many more details for you when we are ready to open the server (U35 has a much larger feature list than I listed above). We'd love some first impressions from those who can make it this week but we understand that because of the short notice traffic is likely to be low. Next week, however, everyone should be there. I'm going to be there. It's going to be great. <3

Odd that Dragonborn is not being released as Iconic, when Cordo recently stated it's not much more workto make an iconic while making a new race. I guess they figure this makes more money somehow....?

According to the DDO Discord:
[10:20 PM] Dragonfirez: Is there any specific reason for there to not be an iconic version? I was really hoping for that :frowning:
[11:01 PM] cocomajobo: IDK the reasons. Usually I'm pretty good about keeping up with decision making reasoning for situations such as this so as to spread insight. The last couple months have just been a bit too busy on my end to keep up with that periphery task. :stuck_out_tongue:
[8:35 AM] SteelStar: Essentially: There was not time for both in U35, so we went with having a base race over an Iconic one.

On DDO cast, JerJer went into a bit on why no iconic. Mostly racial tree time versus the animation time is what I remember. They wanted to get all the graphics and animations good and didn't have the extra resources to also do iconic trees. The dance emotes are uber important.
If you can roll it you can smoke it. If you can carve it you can smoke with it.

Internal testing revealed /dance2 was overperforming by about 15%.

Well if racial past lives are going to be a thing: this might be the most efficient from a cash grab point of view.
If they aren't, I would have guessed that we would have received an iconic rather than a non-iconic - if it was pick one or the other.
I think its pretty reasonable at this point to assume that racial past lives are indeed going to be making an appearance very soon.

Due to some technical difficulties and some last minute internal playday feedback adjustments, the super last minute shortened preview meant to start today is unfortunately canceled.
The Tuesday through Thursday schedule that Coco listed in the OP for next week (3/7 through 3/9) is still right on schedule though!
Sorry for the late notice and we'll see you all next week!

well,
idling, jumping & running around, dancing, chatting and spamming emotes in Gen chat is where endgame's at on DDO. So yea, it's important.

Turbine
SSG, where meeting a schedule is just as impossible as is massively-multiple-online-bug-free code.
When I felt like giving Turbine a break I would blame WB for being micromanaging overlords without a clue as to what was going on at Turbine, preventing all the good things from happening by restricting their resources and causing bug-ridden code by enforcing release dates.
But SSG is proving that charity false. SSG are themselves just a pile of micromanaging idiots without a clue as to what is going on. If anything their new freedom has only increased their hubris and they are absolutely giddy with their newfound ability to fuck shit up beyond belief. I almost feel bad for their investors. Hopefully fucksticks like severline poured their retirement funds into this mess.
No, let me be Frank.

Personally, if it isn't ready, I'd rather they delayed and put it out when it was closer to correct.

Yep, this. Late updates are only late until they release, bad code is bad code forever. I have my entire life to wait for DDO to update, and I'd rather those updates be as polished as possible.

Lynnabel,
Why wouldn't they at least make a post (Release Notes or some other formal introduction) that tells about Update 35, especially Dragonborn?
I mean they were good and ready for us to preview them yesterday until a technical difficulty got in the way.
I can't see any reason why they can't give us details on the new race instead so we have something to think and talk about until the next Lamannia preview next week.
Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.
We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.
