Here's the thing - you're a new player; you've played some FPS, you dicked around a bit in WoW, and this is free, so you'll try it out.  Roll up a paladin because turning undead sounds cool, right?  Battle evil and destroy them in a blast of light!  Pick one of the preset options, because you have no idea wtf the difference is between wis and int (somethingsomething come out of the rain; which is the turning one again?), and jump in!

Then you spend fifteen fucking tries to get through the Grotto, because you're a first life and you can't skip it, not to mention you have no idea why you would...
An hour later, and you're standing in Korthos, with 4 hard levels to go before you quit and do something else because your toon is a fucking gimp factory.  Bye.

Remember when the signup form was broken for a MONTH?  We do, because that's hilarious, but nobody else does, and they're not playing now.

People here have good ideas about how to fix shit, and most of us consider the official priority list to be way out of whack.  Hook 'em early - that first quest needs to be *bulletproof*, as well as fun.  It's fine, as long as it works.  Which is never.  Snowy/sunny Korthos is a cool idea, and it was neat when there were 15,000 people on.  Now it's just a winter graveyard, which turns into a summer graveyard if you stick with it.  DDO's a MORPG at this point.  Except there's not much RP, unless everybody *isn't* a ranting autist.     A MOG.

I don't necessarily agree with all that, either.  I think most people here can make a distinction between public and private lives, although there are definitely some who don't care.  Case in point: Cordo's perhaps-or-not divorce.  I think that's off-limits, and people were mostly in accord.  Some delighted in it.  I understand it, but I don't agree with it.  He's a shitty moderator, and he and Fran should make a guild on Wayfinder and run together and there should be a third DDO forum they can post on together about how hard Elite is and whether Dream Visor needs an upgrade and how hirelings should be on attack all the time, but breaking up sucks, and it has nothing to do with his job as a forum Nazi.

When we say we say we hate you, we mean "ye who have to make yet another crafting system with yet more ingredients instead of fixing power attack ON hats OFF when we log in."  We don't hate you you, the guy who drinks a beer and rants about the Cubs or cash me outside or Pizzagate or- well, we hate that guy.  But not you.  We love you.  You're great.

Just stop fucking things up, and we'll love you in public too.

You did great.  But they say that no good deed goes unpunished, and the dozen or so long standing issues you managed to trivially correct during the last 3 hours of your internship only pointed out to anyone who was watching exactly how lazy and uncaring the rest of the DDO devs are.  Nothing you fixed hadn't been bug reported or posted on the forums a dozen plus times before, and yet many of those issues had been in place for years.

I have a more than one thread with 1000's of views and hundreds of replies about builds. Which is evidence enough that Sailias was wrong: many people, certainly more than zero, do give a solitary fuck (or more) about my builds. You don't have to be a fan to give a fuck. Sam-u-r-eye/Floppy can't get enough of my builds, because he wants to pretend he and his friends thought it up. W/E.

More to your point, I have a standing offer on Khyber to group with ANYONE, and show them how I play a thrower. I don't get as much playtime these days as I used to sadly, but I can still hold my own just fine. I suspect some of you are on Khyber, know who I am, and are perfectly aware that you can't beat me in a kill count or find me playing at a level that is not very high. So you keep hiding, and sniping away at me here on the Vault. Like Grand. Or worse, make up a story that you joined a group with me and I didn't rape face. Offering no evidence of course, very Trumpian.

That's ok. It's satisfaction enough to know that the shame of their inadequacies is what leads most people here to trashtalk.  I don't use socks, I don't hide behind fake accounts. Anyone who wants to see me put my money where my mouth is can find me if they want in game. Until then, I can't see you haters.

Let me save you a ton of time.  Stop spending time on the default builds.  Those suck, sure, and could use to be improved, yes.  But there is much lower hanging fruit.

Change some simple text.  This is what you do best, right?

Change the character class recommendations to better reflect reality.  Currently Cleric is listed as a "Very Good" solo class, and it just isn't.  Maybe it was 10 years ago, but it isn't now and the recommendations haven't changed over those 10 years. Sorcerer is listed as "Challenging," and they can lay waste to heroic dungeons even on a first life.  Warlock is listed as "Fair."

Bring all of the character class recommendations up to date and you'll have improved new player retention, something that Turbine and SSG seems to have forgotten exists, by 1000%.

Lamma available for 2 hours with 0 devs online then back to silence for 3 weeks.

Two - see how easy it is to leave things behind? How easy it is to say "we'll just do the minimum" and leave the big stuff behind? It's so easy to just give up on the big challenges, to just change the text and be done. I don't want the builds sheet to be changed and leave that checkbox unchecked.
