What have they done? LOTRO ate my Lama installation and I'm almost at my monthly bandwidth cap due to multiple reinstalls so I can't have a look.

Help anyone?

(I want them to have kept Larafey, Natasha, and that Fighter bloke with DDoor Cheesy )

It's pretty much what's been needed (except AI changes).  Stats and equipment upgrades.

Quote:
Hireling equipment at all levels has been updated. They should deal more damage in combat, and be a little more survivable (Within reason- these guys won't be soloing elite quests for you anytime soon).

Hireling ability scores have been redone. They progress much higher than they did previously.

Hirelings now have a high Concentration skill. Their spells will be interrupted far less (unless they get hit for a lot of damage in one hit).

Quote:
I also made their equipment unbreakable.
All hirelings now have a standardized package of defensive bonuses. This includes enhancement bonuses to every ability score, False Life, Protection, Resistance, Physical Resistance Rating, Natural Armor, Proof Against Poison/Disease, Blindness Immunity, Death Ward, and an Insight bonus to AC.

Of these, the bonuses that can scale do so as the hireling increases in level.

Melee hirelings use the defensive package equal to their level.
Rogues/bards use the package two levels lower.
Clerics/Favored Souls use the package three levels lower.
Sorcerers/Wizards use the package four levels lower.

As an example of how the stats scale:
Light Fortification from levels 1-5, Moderate from levels 6-10, and Heavy on 11+.
So a melee hireling gets Heavy Fortification at level 11, while a Sorcerer gains it at level 15.
Casual gamers should be happy.

I saw their idea of level 16 appropriate gear given to stone of experience users. Forgive me if I'm not impressed.

Spot on about the casual gamer being happy. Not bad for the relentlessly anti social too.

It looks like they've made a lot of great changes to hirelings.  I think Feather_of_PR_Disaster needs a few lessons in effective communication, though.

Nothing new here, it's just another part of the conspiracy to transform DDO to My Little Pony Online.
(after all both belongs to Hasbro. )

yeah, it's all "woot, a thread devs will read, let's give some useful feedback on henchies" and then he's like "no. Nonono. Feedback only on what we've done thanks."

It's certainly a step in the right direction but why the fuck wouldn't you want additional feedback on the things. Particularly since you have hosed endgame and a hell of a lot more people are going to be relying on them these days. You even have a couple of people going "take my bloody money for a perma gold seal one a la battlecat". It's bloody information gold.

Le sigh.

I thought that the feedback on Caught in the Web established the answer to "why they don't want feedback".

They do not publish information to the player base with the intent to gather player opinions on improving it or changing it.

If they wanted feedback, the link to the exit survey would work.

If they wanted feedback on something like hireling configurations, they could have made it a contest - submit one build and gear setup for one hireling of your choice, and select a random contributor to each hireling's thread as a winner of something typically useful such as 30 minute guest pass to STK.

The contest threads give the appearance of interaction without actually requiring any.

If Feather_of_Sun would like to come here for feedback on what he has and has not done, I will be Delighted to oblige.

they will probably congratulate themselves on how long they "kept it going" never able to see that it could have easily managed to keep itself going for far longer if they had just meddled far less drastically and with some semblance of an actual gameplan.

cant fix their broken code, rewrite the descriptions to fit the code.

bleeding players, make hires more robust instead of fixing the antisocial game mechanics.

losing money, add mechanics into the game to force store purchases.

unable to fix bugs, make lamma more inconvienent to visit. never fix the bug reporting tool.

getting bad feedback from exiting players, break the exit survey.

its comical really...

In unrelated news, handwraps are now breakable, and all other weapon types wear at double the previous rate ;-P
