he checked on it, he was told it got fixed, so he went back to the players to tell them he was told it was fixed, but if they think otherwise to let him know so he can go back to the people that actually do that stuff.
That's not what I read.
I didn't read that he checked on it.
I didn't read that he was told that it got fixed.
He did not say "I checked on it. I was told that it's been fixed."
He said "It seems like this issue may have been fixed".

I'm not seeing the issue.
Clearly we see different things.
I see
- a turbine spokesperson saying that as far as he took the time to find out, an issue that's been open for nearly a year may or may not be closed
- him saying that he can dig around if someone tells him it's still not working
- After he says that he can look into it, I see him guess incorrectly at the issue that was well documented in the OP and well explained by himself in the 12th message in the thread
I see this in the context of a game that is a lot of fun, where it's easy to see a lot of love put into craftsmanship and details, but also has way too many things that get started and not finished.
It's avoidably sloppy.
The issue I see is a disinterest in following up on an issue that's been open for nearly a year. Just enough interest to respond, but not enough to actually do anything.
It would be nice if Cordovan would wave pom-poms before responding to every forum thread, but that's not reasonable. What is reasonable is to at least make it sound like an effort had been made to follow through on the matter.
Communication is nice, but does anyone think players want "I didn't test it on live, but I think it's fixed. I can look into it if there are complaints." That's not interaction. That's disinterest.
He could have said nothing. It's what he'd done since 28 August 2012 and again when the topic was bumped in March.
He could also have said "This was fixed in such-and-such update/hotfix. If anyone has had a problem with it recently, please contact me so we can identify and correct the problem."

Turbine fucks up royally with such frequency that, if you're so inclined to have a bout of Turbine bashing, there are certainly many more worthy cases that this example. You're being pedantic.
You might be right, however I submit to you that it wouldn't be a bad thing if Turbine moved their needle closer to "a pedantic attention to details" and further from "this is good enough for now - we'll get around to making sure all the epic destinies work some time later".
