The only issue I have with this, is now everyone using Completionist will HAVE to use this, but most of us simply have too much crap in both our BTC Locker and our TR Cache to do so. I have no intention of throwing out a ton of stuff I worked so hard to get while I spent 2 years getting Competitionist for my main. Guess I gotta figure out what Feat I want to use instead....

Warlock: the answer to a question nobody asked.

Exactly this  Cry

But still, it's a decent resume item that didn't clog my inventory, so they are getting better (or at least less bad)

Nicely put.

I've been reading that thread, reading this thread, and I do not get the class. It just looks like a mishmash of leftovers with what will probably be OP in heroics, useless in epics. And boringly so.

I'm finding it hard to keep up with the all the posts on the mobo thread, but peeps are starting to poke some serious holes in the proposed Warlock now.
I think Varg is going to run out of excuses and go quiet soon.

Have to give MadCookieQueen credit too - no beating around the bush, she called it like it is.

It really does look like another half-assed effort pushed out the door too soon and half finished.   No new spells is really telling.

I liked the reply by Xoham (#145 on page 8).
Pokes quite a few holes in Varg's excuses/reasons.

No ED is going to be a big issue - particularly if they think Shiradi will cut it.

Some of the suggestions people have made could have seen them hit the ball out of the park with this idea, but it will never happen - they're too far along to admit flaws or change anything.  Another missed opportunity?
I don't care how true to PnP it is, all that matters is what it adds to DDO.  The more I read, the more I am convinced that they will be in the shadows of other classes.

I have seen some disagreements about this on the mobos.
I thought the feat only becomes unselectable if you reset it?
I didn't think it just drops out and forces you to TR?

Yeah, seriously - why should this be the only thing to remain faithful to PnP?! They gave up the pretext of fidelity long ago, why shackle Warlocks to it?

Power wise it depends how much alatricity eldritch crap will have so that you can play in shiradi and how much damage it will do.
The shit people talk about on mboard doesnt make much sense, example thy say hellblast energy burst n such synergy while having blast will be amazing.
How? With sp bar they get that is equal to bards? How will that be good?
I know for fact that as sorc with superior spellpower/points/nuking capability i have issues in some fights with sp and without all items for sp regen/discount i would be chuging sp pots like mad.
That is the thing that irks and makes me most angry at this retarded idea, spbar.
No new spells, beside maybe that one devil chain and how or whatever and everything else is just a fucking copy.

This is not warlock, this is a fucking bard with a runearm so far.
Only thing i hope is those blasts will be super outperforming to sell the class and the plife will be decent

The shitty thing about all of this is, is just the sheer dedication to ignoring players Sev and crew have shown.

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/447155-Warlock-Class-Project

This damn thread has been up for a year now, and I've tried to keep it alive given all the rumors of warlocks as time passed. Warlock could have been great, hell it could have even done Pen and Paper proud, but instead we get a half-assed turd pile that even half the Mother-boarders are starting to realize is a turdbine signature.

Means you can't eTR though... because you still have to rebuild from ground up, and you KNOW it's not going to let you select Completionist if you haven't ran Warlock

I suspect the decision not to go evil lies in the DDO code.
A decision was taken at the start not to permit evil toons.  Likely a PR mitigation exercise.

Going to Evil alignments might be more than just a philosophical decision now though.
Those good damage spells might never have been coded to affect players.
I guess Evil toons could circumvent some content as it stands too.  Eg.  They could just ignore all those wonderful spell wards that do evil damage in MOTU.

I always assumed it was because they felt they'd have to make a completely different set of quests for evil players or the game wouldn't make sense.  This entails a limited perspective of personality, splitting everything evenly down the middle (evil people always side with evil and good people always do good).

This may have been true for the original development team, but they haven't concerned themselves with details such whether or not the game would make sense within its own context since at least 2010.

They have been going off this for years, and stick with it. There may very well be coding problems, I wouldn't doubt it.

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/140097-Evil-Alignments-and-quests?p=16...
[QUOTE=Eladrin;1620889]"The first six alignments, lawful good through chaotic neutral, are the standard alignments for player characters.  The three evil alignments are for monsters and villains." - PHB, p104.

While not every character strives to be a hero, the majority of the quests and storylines in DDO make the assumption that the parties involved are not actively villainous in nature.  (There are some exceptions, such as Purging the Heretics, but even Running With the Devils involves an unfortunate situation forced upon the party through duplicity.) Non-issue for me, wanting to play "evil" characters smacks of teen-age boys.

Plenty of excellent examples in fiction, myth, etc.. of good men and women making a deal with a dark force and using that to combat other dark forces, while trying to hold onto their inherent decency. That can pan out in tragic stories, or high tension, or melodrama, all pretty good.

When people say that want to play evil, I just roll my eyes, so much bullshit.
