Without THF it looks like the only way to get weapon effects on B-word glancing in heroic is Arty sploosh. I mean splash. Which might not be terrible if you take it for traps and umd if you're unconcerned about evasion anyway.
If such a splash were taken, what would be the split suggested? (I am a tad addicted to trap skills) also, if such were the case would it be worth going INT based for the skill points, reflex saves, etc?
Would the 2% effects proc off glancing blows be worth it? (is there a way to increase it through other means than THF)

I wonder how this compares to a vanguard. Other than the 5-10% attack speed, are you gaining anything else over a vanguard? If not I'd assume the shield bashes would pull ahead. Haven't played a with a orb build so excuse my ignorance (if any)

50% stat to damage modifier. Customized orbs. Neg level immunity. 500 on vorpals to undead. Scaling 7d6 light damage per hit. PSWF. +5 (w) cleave.
I dont think vanguard has better dps. They do have more prr/mrr and stuns.

Negs aren't really a issue (for me at least) even in eemod.
500 on undead is ok, but only works on that. I pick up p2hf and p2wf. Can you explain what you mean about the 50% stat thing a bit more. Haven't really thought about it cause I don't think I could get over holding balls in my off hand. Have you played a vanguard?

I see. Maybe we could get together in game and do some testing. I've got a guildie who's doing it, he gets shit on though. Might just be his toon.
What's your first number look like? With a 76 str (tensers+store+yugo) on cha based, I'm doing 160-200+ first number. Anyway not throwing thread off anymore.

64 str in DC. 180-220 on ship dummy.
Edit: didnt holy sword it. Have 0 enchant weapon past lives. Have 3 monk past lives. Didnt hit smite for extra 5 melee power. Standing at 74 melee power. 79 with smite boost.

I'll try it now on dummy. Usually don't use dummy bc it does to quick n don't want helpless damage.

I dont have any helpless damage twisted on and dont have the dummy buff( first time hitting dummy only, after the buff is aquired damage is increased). With a str score of 76 it would be 9 more damage per hit.

I just etr'd into it. I capped last night but haven't had time to gear the toon. Figured I'd have to test for myself cause beating on a training dummy wasn't doing it. Guildie tried showing me with his, but his is boo boo.

I'm playing both, swf mainly in DC while for vanguard I went robot and mainly LD.
Overall swf seems more reliable to me.
DPS wise vanguard is pretty fine, shield crits are funny, biggest I noticed was 13.5k, paired with a 10k one, on AOE shield bash.
Problem I have is vanguard being squishier, quite ironic for a shield toon. But then I also miss/ed some gear on him, so YMMV.

my vanguard had 49% double strike (while attacking), 76 str, went human for the Hamp n cheap boost. Did 2 fighter so I couldget haste boost and pick up IC bludgeon n slashing. Also got the extra 20% shield bash feat (can't remember the name). So 70% bash chance 220 something prr and 1100ish hp.
How much double strike do you have on the orb user? Did you go bs or da?

Doublestrike is 49%. Bastard Sword in DC has better crit range.

Does IC Bludgeon affect shields?
I equipped a tower shield yesterday (pure pally vanguard build) and the crit range was 18-20 / x3. I cast Holy Sword and it went to 17-20 /x4. I picked IC:Bludgeon at level 24 and walked around in Stormhorns hitting orcs with shield smash. Attack rolls lower than 17 would not register as crits, whereas the range should be 13-20.... Anyone else tested this?

Shield mastery is the biggest reason to play this build. ETR for u24 and go thf. Cetus wins.

Yeah I saw that change.
Bugger - I was enjoying this build too.
Best melee build I have played in awhile.
Great DPS and very self sustaining.

This is why you guys should have all stuck with druids. Devs can't fix unarmed builds.

Got to build a dwarven Occult Slayer first day on Lam. Wish I could log back on there to playtest it more. Hitting 90+ SR, 1600 hp, 170 PRR in heavy with Consecrated ticking for 240(without a hamp or devotion item). On a first life.
Would have been a swf+orb build too, but too many nerfs to the style.

It still is top dps, and you must be a retard.
It's a marginal loss of 20PRR, 10 melee power and 3% doublestrike (12% on 8 druid) that irks me.
