Fastest way to level up so I can group easier?

Print Post
I am trying to follow some advice here and get my first few TR's out of the way... But I only get a few levels per day, where as some people I know play less than I do and just zip through the levels.

I was grouping with someone at level 4, see him on again, ask to group and he is level 21... In 2? maybe 3? days... DAFUQ.

Seriously, he is not even the only one... Seven out of 12-15 (ish) people I grouped with are already in their 20's, and it's been just a few days.

I was told to run some solo adventures but I get slaughtered in em. Help me, DDO Vault, you're my only hope.

Why thank you, although I needed no affirmation of that fact from anyone, and certainly not from some sad, fat fuck who is a DDO fanboi.

Having said that, I am a Time Warner stockholder, and every  bit of profit that can be wrung out of Turbine has a chance of increasing my dividend check. As such, I would encourage you to continue spending money on DDO as you attempt to offset the wretched reality that is your life.

Just for your information, not all companies optimize their business operations to maximize current profits. Amazon, for example, is much more interested in increasing its market share at the expense of current profits.

You would know these kinds of things if you were anyone who mattered, but clearly you aren't.

Now, be a good little fanboi and toddle off to the Turbine forums where you can get your daily dose of Cordo ass kissing done.

Just join group and say 'Ni Hao' and then do whatever you want.  You'll get kicked afterwards, but you'll get a completion.

Alex,
Some people may be using naughty means to achieve it, but others can burn through the levels in days.
As 'Who Cares' suggested, try to find someone or group doing speed runs.
If you don't care about learning, just offer to stay out of the way.
Tips:
  • Make sure you are running whatever XP buffs you have access to - Xp pots, Ship buffs, Voice of the master/Mantle of the Worldshaper, tome of learning etc.  It all helps.
  • Get to the quests quickly - have DDO wiki up to assist.
  • Don't linger in the quests - grab the chests you can and get out. Speed runs are intended to minimise wasted time.
  • Some people will not mind - they're doing the content anyway, so they won't care as long as you don't hold them up.  If you get a player or group you don't like, just get out.

By all means be honest and say you're a "Newb" (don't say Noob!) and people will cut you some slack.

The other advice you have received in this thread is of dubious value, but up to you.   Wink

Good luck!

A few levels a day is great.

Most of the players (not represented by most of the active posters here) don't get through one level a day.

If you want to group, don't worry about your current pace.  As you develop more familiarity with the content, your pace will increase.  More importantly, if you maintain a somewhat consistent pace, you'll fall into step with other players who play similarly.

You can try to keep up with speed runs, but if you cannot keep the same schedule as the group, you'll get left behind needing to find another speed run group, as you've already learned.

Keep in mind that the real prize is the XP, not the chest loot, so don't dawdle or die when you're in groups.

I urge you to not worry about it.  Eventually you'll get there.

join either a big or an active guild so you always have dudes to play with when you log on regardless of level.  or try to start up a static group specifically for a TR train.

This is a really good pace, don't spoil the game for yourself and have some fun on the way.
Do not become the sour old cunt i have become, do not dupe, do not exploit XP stones, this will ruin the game for you.

It still has some life, play it for the enjoyment

I don't know about other people and haven't done heroic life ( 1-20 ) in months but usually would take me 2 or 3 weeks ( ~2 hours every evening ).
Epic life maybe a week or ten days.

I can and did stuff fast few times ( like reincarnation is still on timer heh ), but that means pretty much a headache and little burnout.

And btw, some of the people with million past lives are so bad at this game it's not even funny. So don't worry about that.

I tend to solo for the most part, as my old guild disintegrated and an't stand people talking my ear off.  It takes me about 2 weeks per life, playing 3-4 nights a week, 6 hours a night.
(I work midnights, 3 days a week, and the family is sleeping. Fuck else am I going to do?)

I don't tend to consider myself a powergamer, but it was recently pointed to to me in a pug that I tend to run quests very quickly.

Anyway, with the xp rebalancing, all the xp boosts you can get (the 20% pots from turn-ins, voice, vip bonus, daily bonus, bravery and all that), I don't see how someone couldn't go from 1-20 in a week or two of dedicated play.

Which server do you play? There are also channels u could ask people to run shit together?
Personally i avoid pugging except when it is to break boredom or feel generous to offer free rides.
In my groups mostly i do not care as people above mentioned - IF you do not hinder me-.
I can understand a  "i can't find Chains of flame" quest question, but i'll get annoyed when some1 asks me where is WK, or what SC means at lvl 11...

All the extra boost for exp helps.

And although i think i am not runninng like a madman screaming xp per min xp per min i might skip optionals specially on levels 1-7 cause,
when the fucking base quest xp is 1-2k...a 5% will bring me 50-100 xp, fuck it,
i am not going to miss cap for 20 such quests meaning 1000-2000k xp when i reach 20...
my daily rolls will give me more if i am lucky, a single MM achievement will give me 10 like that ...
so i prefer to save 1 or 2mins per quest for not doing all breakables or do not save a stupid npc.

Last but not least, if u have not burned yourself with grinding yet, do NOT join such a group, it will speed things for you BUT :
a) you will become lazy
b) you will defer from the "fun" you had up till now
c) you might consider fun breaking ur previous completion time but its not the same
Value your enjoyment of the game as it is, take priority on that , and not how fast u can TR.
I would even go as far as say to not even use xp boosts if u haven't started yet, it's an addiction Wink
Have fun and enjoy ur trip from 1 ->20(28)

This is why I'm so glad to have a volume control. I'm already in their stupid pug; now they want me to talk to them, too?  I'm busy. I've got a huge stack of silence in my inbox to get through, and motherfucking windbags are the reason it's piling up.

Silence is golden, but I only get silver rolls.

Plus, I always have background music, and without fail some idiot has to tell me all about how uber his other toon is (And why the fuck couldnt you bring that one instead of costing me time and xp?) right when a particularly good tune hits. then I gotta tell him to shut it, alt-tab and play the song again....just not worth it.
