Where is DDO's centre?

For you, I mean. I've been around since the start and I think that's what makes the Marketplace Tent my "centre" of the DDO world. Do you have a place you'd think of as the centre of that world? Wondering if everyone's is different.

I usually bounce around either airship or the 12 when I'm on, although since they put ports to the hall of heroes in, I've been using that a lot. If I'm on arcane though, portable hole every time.

Usually where the latest update quests are located.
Eveningstar, Necropolis, Amrath, now Meridia.

Otherwise, ship really - fastest load ( for us primitive people still without ssd ).

Market is just depressing.

Marketplace or possibly harbor.  It SHOULD have been hall of heroes since it connects eberron and faerun, and I was actually looking forward to that being the new center.  But it's way too dull and has cumbersome design.

only if you have the hall of heroes passport
and then only if you log out and back in

now getting from faerun to ebberon via the hall of heroes just consists of walking into Elemental Errors and exiting the quest
still clumsy, but better than the p2p passport method that causes memory leak

Before airships, it was Lower Necropolis - bank, AH, and mailbox without loading screens between them, and the House P teleporter is just around the corner.

Once airships arrived, the airship became my center until 5hr airship buffs came out.

Now I have no "center" and log out wherever I happen to be standing.

yup, before Airship it was Lower Necropolis.

Well it depended on where I parked the character actually, as it was back in old Europe.
Lower Necro was a good place, Meridia was second best and Phoenix Tavern ( for those in the Market Area ) Third.

After we got dumped in G-Land, The Guild Airship became the place to park.

Ah that's interesting, a lot of you seem to place it with convenience. I have a lot of places like that, I have my favourite places... but the Marketplace remains the centre. I don't really like that place either heh.

I bind to the boat. I guess my centre would be the cargo hold. Lots of convenience there. Used to /death back for the ele buffs but anymore I just work them into my build but I still tend to gravitate there if I'm not doing anything or going afk.

Airship for me too, but I think Harbor is my second, or maybe crafting hall. I like to hear harbor chatter, still the occasional new player to remind me how I saw the game once, or crafting hall with machines/mail/auction/bank

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Airship if anywhere, or the crafting hall(I have one character who has not left in over a year...)

The Hall of Heroes was a fantastic concept, until they decided to make it stupidly massive and boring. Getting to Forgotten Realms through the hall is exactly as tedious as autor-running through the spinners's prison. Why bother making something like that and then make it so huge that the advantage of having all that stuff packed together is completely lost?

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

Yeah, a great idea, but the decision to charge for transit to Eveningstar was another nail in the coffin. I don't know how many they sold, but I can't imagine it outweighed the lost sales from people who "never got into Eveningstar".

Fairly sure going from airship-spinner's prison-ES is quicker than fannying about in the marketplace. And you get to jump off the bridge too.
Why on earth would you put the lagsink room entrance in the laggiest zone in the game?

Probably some bloody intern they got in to do the grunt work for a year, on the promise they get a month or so to do stuff to tick boxes on their qualification checklist. Seems a lot of DDO over the last few years reflects on this, a halfassed unfinished job that's there to fill a purpose for the devs' resumes rather than to actually make the game better, i.e. all these half finished crafting systems.

Ambition. The Hall is where they hope to open to more worlds. Also, the classic micro-management by superiors who don't play, never played D&D, and think MMO is a hip-hop artist. And then, according to Flav, WotC keeps making it difficult to connect directly to FR.

Most of us are hanging in the cargo hold. The only way ill go to es is with the key. I hate ligging out to get there and im not trying to run past spinners. I wish there was a ship portal around where the key takes you out there. As well as an option to get there from the ship. But...turdbine..

Yes and no.

There's several issues :

- DDO is 3.5 ( well initially, nowadays it's debatable ), so the Official Support World is Eberron.
- The difficult bit of Faerun is the Sword Coast, especially everything around Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate and so on.
I suspect that the Stormhorns and Anauroch is the limit they can reach going west on Faerun. Everything west of that limit is
   for Neverwinter use.
- Lately we saw a concerted effort between WoTC, Turbine and Cryptic to release identically themed updates/books, so it's clear that
WoTC/Hasbro is pulling the strings and making sure to separate clearly the two MMOs.

- Last and most important in my mind... Eberron is a world, Faerun is another world, Greyhawk is a third one... And while are all D&D support worlds,
WoTC wants to keep them separate so that they can revive one or the other depending on what sells at a time.
Right now it seems Faerun sells well, so they give us some Faerun books, but if sales start dropping, they will go back to Eberron, or one of the world they fully own [ don't
expect Sigil, Ravenloft, Athas, Krynn or Mystara. As far as I can tell the IPs on those 5 are so muddled that it would take years and an army of lawyers to get it sorted to
everybody's involved satisfaction, at best they might get the Ravenloft and Ravenloft II modules IPs sorted for MMO use, but definitely not the settings ]

Funny thing about HoH. It was obviously designed for one side to be Eberron and the other to be Faerun. So that you could walk in one side go through the hallway that connects the two sides and go out the other door to travel between worlds. Apparently the FR license didn't allow for a direct 2 way connection like that though, so they had to implement the workaround where you log between worlds...and then they decided it needed a pricetag because Turbine.
