It's a simple, straightforward, generous response to their second fuckup. That's substantially better than their usual response of multiple fuckups without realizing that they've fucked up.
Couldn't agree more; I'm considering sigging this

I'm not checking for cavities in the teeth of this particular gift horse; a few toons of mine who otherwise would never have had the play to get CitW weapons, will get CitW weapons. That is good. None of them will ever get upgraded, but so what?
Had they not done this, we'd have been saying that this is what they should have done. They tried for a selective approach, failed, and have jumped straight to the next best option with no real opportunity for drama to build; that's a fucking enormous step forward.
Yeah, we could all wish that no mistakes were made in the first place, but this is the first time in fuck-knows-how-long that a cockup has been immediately addressed in a way that hardly anyone can complain about (although there are, of course, always a few). Based on recent performance, it wouldn't have been surprising if they'd left it a fortnight to give any kind of response while the forums ghostbaned a new meme... this is a vast improvement by comparison.
Also; is it not better that they say "screw it, it's a goodwill gesture, let's not waste any more time fixing the distribution method and just give one to everyone" than it would be if they wasted development resources trying to pin down whatever it is caused the process to mess up? It's not a game-changer; it might cause more people to raid for comms is all. Cautious, low-key applause here from me.
