Thanks for your input, and for any others that feel like sharing anything they might have to contribute - plz dont be put off by one nasty post.  Wink

I realise most of you are jaded with a game this old and bug ridden, and helping newbies isnt top of your lists when Turbine is pissing in your faces constantly; I get it, and I appreciate those who do offer aid.

The list is amazing and I'm trying to make it not just for me but for anyone new to the game that might utilize this.

I'm just looking to shake the tree for all the fruit I can get from it - you guys know this game better then most, so your the best to get it from.

I think the only thing missing is if I can get more info on groups of enchants (cannith crafting)/gems that you run on specific gear, like rings when TR'ing or epic TR'ing.

Think of it this way if your rolling your eyes at my efforts- if new players come and stay playing DDO because threads like this make it easier for them rather than harder, Turbine might make enough cash to either put more team members on the project or make it a viable product to sell to someone else that might take better care of it; I might be wrong about it, but if I'm right... Some augments are nice.
Any of the spell DC augments are good if you're a DC caster.
Meteoric Star Ruby
Draconic Soul Gem
Globe of True Imperial Blood
Golem's Heart
Deconstructor (says ml 26, really ml 28.)

Certain augments can give more flexibility in gear set up.
Fortification
False Life
Skills
Spell Power
Master's Gift
Water Breathing
Vitality
Resistance
Protection
PRR

For TRing, voice of the master + mantle of the world shaper = true seeing at lvl 5.

Shield wand/clickies to block mm is great at low/mid level (still useful situationally later.)

Protection From Evil/Circle of Protection blocks command/greater command. Useful to have sometimes.

Disruption, Smiting, and Banishing weapons with a low-ish (8-12) ml are nice. If greensteel is available,  make a triple pos undead beater.

Some form of res. Greensteel is probably easiest for most. Ring of the ancestors is cool. Scrolls are fine for most situations, clickies cannot be interrupted as easily (no concentration check, but can still be tripped, stunned, etc.)

If raid loot is an option, Titan has badass TR items. Belt of Brute Strength, Gyroscopic Boots, 7 Fingered Gloves, Skull Fetish Mask, etc.

Minos Legens is still a decent helmet option and super easy to acquire.

Ioun Stones are cool, but i personally only keep the spell absorption one. Don't have space for the an assortment.

If Warforged, the upgraded Blademark's Docent is pretty great for the lvl.

For epic reincarnations, the eveningstar commendations gear is pretty solid for a few levels.

CitW weapons/sets.

Gianthold loot (dragon armors and helms, FoT gear.)

3BC stuff is solid with decently low ml (most is ml 24.)

Orchard stuff at 27.

If staying at cap, MoD and Thunder-forged.

Ah crap, they finally took the time to change this (I haven't played in a while)?  IMO it's the only thing that made leveling crafting tolerable.  Too bad for the new folks.  Embarrassed

Since this thread seems to have expanded beyond just crafted items, I'll throw one of my all-time favorites out there:

        http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Phiarlan's_Pendant_of_Time

Not a flashy item, but great for saving time as soon as you get it.  Even better on a TR, when you can start using it immediately.  I actually carry two, since it's possible to squander a charge.

Yeah, that's because, unfortunately, new DDO players are as rare as unicorn farts.  Ones who actually take the time  to learn something?  Even rarer.

Chronoscope ship buff has nerfed time pendant into waste of space.

ring or clothing of good luck+2, masterful and alchemical save ritual:

+2 luck save, +1 competence save and +2 luck skills. ML:7, bta, as good as any ml 9 raid gear, if not better. If you happen to have old colorless slotted bta ring, even better tho thats gonna be ml 9.

spell lore, tho its only useful if ur crafter is in the 130s

The most broken epic PL in the game is the ridiculous AC buff from martial PLs. But when you include all the inherent benefits from reincarnation, the thing is above the roof. The benefit from TR was supposed to be minimal, but now it is game breaking. start a new character and you will feel, you will get raped in heroics.

Personally I think lower heroics on new characters are harder than Legendary Elite content on a character with good gear and has all destinies farmed.

Have you EVER gone to Law School Feyn? Have you EVER been asked by a United States Senator who is now the Vice President of the United States to write a paper just for him on a particular topic of Constitutional Law for his use as a Senator? Have you ever been asked to help a very notable Harvard PhD turned Constitutional scholar with his very-well received book on Legal Philosophy and Constitutional Revolutions? Have you ever been offered a job as a Deputy Attorney General BEFORE you even graduated Law School?

No? Then STFU you fucking amateur.

Ah - I haven't played in a while, so had to look up that buff.  A few things to possibly keep in mind:

1) PPoT is supposedly 50% increase, the buff is supposedly 40%.  Not much difference but might still be worth the inventory slot.
2) Buff goes away with a death (no biggie, since in effect you only lose it for the trip back to the ship)
3) Not everyone has convenient access to the buff.

Not arguing with you, just giving some food for thought.  If I ever came back I might even decide to lose the pendant.  At the very least I'd probably ditch my extra copies.

2- no

I share the surprise. I was a little disappointed though.

But I won't double-down on it. I'm feeling warm fuzzies over the amazing odds you've beaten.

So, I apologize for taking it as an underhanded insult. You're absolutely fucking right that veterans need to show newbs some patience and generosity, and hand out useful advice. If we don't, we're helping to finish off this dying game that much sooner.

I am not going to hug it out, though.

And I understand where this idea comes from. I understand why you think it makes sense. It does make sense, just not when applied to Turbine. I'm not rolling my eyes. I remember when I thought, reasonably, pretty much the same thing. But Turbine is an abusive company. Their strategy is not secret. Any one of us who has been around can give you enough repeated examples that it isn't just a subjective opinion anymore. Especially when those examples involve direct quotes from Turbine management.

And if that isn't enough, there's still Fernando.

Sorry the sound quality is shit. That's him, telling us how it's not only unimportant what we think, like, or want, but that it's important to ignore us.

Turbine is never going to put more money into DDO. They will happily take your cash and put it into designing a phone app.

And you know what? Their business model still brings in cash. If Turbine disappoints us, we react ... well, exactly as you say.

And this guy is still at Turdbine somewhere in the mgmt structure.

I have no problem with the concepts he talks about in monetizing games.  But it's the way Turdbine does it.  They do not respect their customers.

I can understand the delusion when there was always a stream of new players replacing the old, but by any metric player numbers are down alot.  How do they internally justify this?  I presume they just brush it off with the normal excuses, "It's a 9yr old game....", "it's a tough market these days...", "people's attention spans are shorter" blah blah blah.

Certainly doesn't have anything to do with the mgmt at Turdbine and their shitty attitude to their IP and quality....

The caster level of a GS item has nothing to do with what slot it's equipped on.  The reason you get different answers from all of us is because we've all built gear up over the years and different opinions.

I regret not having every Displace on quarterstaff.
Maybe small thing, but 2 mins instead 1 : 36 on some builds is reason good enough.
Always seems like less lag from weapon clickies.

I'm good with everything Revaulting, and no worries.

I apologise if your post wasnt as I took it.

I do read up a ton on games I start playing and part of the reason I came here was I could see everything was outdated and obviously what was up was pre enhancement-schism; no one seems to want to promote the game after that time frame and theres been a constant stream of changes afterwards.

I've seen and read all about Turbines horrible policies but I'm just trying to be optimistic because its AD&D and I cut my gaming teeth on that...well, that and after years of waiting for a movie based on it we got those two steaming piles instead and I still haven't gotten over that all these years later, so...  Wink

---->

Does anyone know if lootgen items still drop with obscenity on them?

I've been looking for one but not sure if its pointless and I'd like one.

On the topic of displacement clickies, if I am wearing a level 24 mabar cloak + golden guile (duplicative and non-stacking, I know), and bracers of the twisting shade, which gives 20% already, then also I have fog cloud on my spell list for boss fights, how much if at all will a it help me?

I read somewhere someone was multiplying effects to get upwards of 50% miss chance, but the math just seemed wrong.

I know this is a bit outside the scope of the thread and I dont want to derail it, but figured it would be okay to ask since good info is coming in here.

Thnx

Obscenity and most of the fun affixes that were added in U14 were removed by Feather of Sun during the Ghostbaning of loot.

This makes me sad. I was really hoping to find one.

My blood pressures pretty high today so I wont even click on that link to the "third movie"...arrrghhhh Angry

BTW, with GS (greensteel) clickies, you can equip, buff, then uneuip w/o losing the buff for ALL clickies, right?  (that is, no exceptions/buggy ones around).

True. I suspect it will return. Searing dropped for me on Lamannia. I think they're trying to slowly reintroduce the good stuff into the wild.

Have you tried a lower difficulty, such as the official forums?

I've gotten way more PMs about lowering the ML of the heroic cannith challenge items to level 0 than I can be bothered to reply to, so I'll just put it out here: make the item tier 3 (so it has crafing potential on it)and disjunct it. You'll have to do it every time you log on, but it works like a charm. Greataxe of fire from level 1 is lots of fun.

I don't believe it works on the epic versions since those get augment slots, not crafting potential.
