Well that answers the question on whether or not he got the axe.  Though, I will say there is a difference between saying, "No DDO staff got axed" and "no changes will be made to our development plans."  You can make all the plans you want, even if you no longer have the staff necessary to properly design, code, and QC those plans in an timely fashion.

You're assuming the staff they had was capable of doing any of that before.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

Seems hard to believe.  Where did they cut if not from the DDO and LoTRO development and support groups?  Bob from AccountTemps got fired?

They cut the phone support staff, don't forget that. But I guess they could have been for all of turbines games, not ddo exclusive.

Likely because Jerry is cheaper. I mean he can give Shoemaker a lifetime VIP membership for his phony DDO wiki admin contest and get reach arounds from the rest of his pony brigade. They had to let go of the LOTRO guy that did his job and from what I understand people liked the LOTRO community manager. He didn't need sycophantic suck ups and didn't need to bribe the players there. He actually tried to communicate with the players and it was appreciated. I'm sure Jerry would have said he would do the job for another gallon tankard gas station cup so he could two fist his colas when they're free from playing ventriloquist dummy with the hopefully departed devs Vagisil and Steel-shit.

Jerry stays because he has seniority.  The other guy was a replacement for "FLAMING ASSHOLE" Sapience.

Who wold bother to play once this hits maintenance mode?   There's no end-game to speak of and TRing becomes pointless when you're already about to easily beat the content.

Sure, there'd still be tons of stuff to do for new people.   But for people who've already been playing this game too long what's left?

I find it weird that they'd be slashing DDO's budget right before a big Dungeons and Dragons movie. Its like they are afraid of money.

More likely they project the movie to suck ass like the last one did and are cutting losses early.

Well, I predicted that May was going to be the death rattle of DDO in conjunction to the rumors of things slowing up if the current team couldn't increase revenue. I was a couple months short but here it is.

Dude, every prediction you've ever made was wrong. You're wrong more often than a broken clock. Given your track record, you should probably just wait until there's an actual corpse to dance around.

I quit the second time around because of their behaviours - too many new systems for their own benefit and too little respect for player time already invested whilst doing so and invalidating old systems and effort. So, for me at least, maintenance mode and a static ruleset are now a welcoming though. I would probably start playing again if the constant tinkering were to cease and I can only see that happening at maintenance mode. Especially as, as others have noted many times before, the current devs seem to prioritise padding their CV over our experience.

So yeah it's almost a prerequisite for me playing now and therefore spending any money on the game. That's how laughably poor this bunch are - they've pushed away a long standing customer with their ineptitude and apparent disregard/contempt.

Half tempted to put up a kickstarter for purchasing the DDO license and game as is from turdbine/WB. Then I remember you'd have to crawl through the sewer of spaghetti code just to fix half a dozen things.

Still, could see the potential in actual players taking over development and continuation rather than pulling the plug fully.

FWIW, cordovan: "As with previous business-related decision-making like this, we really can't comment on personnel changes. We would like to reiterate the part from yesterday's statement that DDO will continue operating as it is now. We'd add that no changes have been made to our development plans."

Same here.  I don't know if even maintenance mode would get me playing again, but I'm sure not coming back to the current environment of constantly pulling the rug out from under players.
