seriously?  some anonymous person came here and posted that 'sploit - none of the regulars did anything to you.  They coulda just as easily gone to reddit and posted it - would you have blamed reddit or the person who posted?

BTW, might wanna check yourself - or at least your community team... the honor belongs to Y'ALL as the first web forum to call attention to the exploit - it was posted on 4 Oct - https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/427253-Mankind-has-been-unable-to-stop...

It's been cubed now.

Sadly the problem was there long before this Saturday....
( I'm almost certain it's been there since U19 )

It just became very obvious on Sarlona on Saturday ( or Friday ), and then it spread like a wildfire and the exploit got posted here and to many other places ( guild boards ).

As for getting things ruined, I got my night ruined. I received a phone call at 2AM for a broken router somewhere in the North of France and had to manage it's replacement... Took me 2 hours to get things organized.

The guest who shared the exploit with everyone here did us all a favor. If it was kept as fight club Turbine would be able to ban the select group who were dupping the stuff. Since info got widespread and everyone was cheating they can't ban everyone without the risk of sinking the ship.

And the exploit didn't hurt the game as the doompatrol says it did. It gave what most people really wanted tbh by reducing the stupid grind. A lot of people got better gear and items and are happy to keep on playing the game. Seriously the droprates on scales, items, ingredients and epic stuff is pathetic. And the epic stuff is underpowered now. Whats the point of keeping it that hard to get anyways?

My thanks to the guest who shared and cared. You saved ours and Turbine's bacon with your poll. Time for Turbine to listen to what their playerbase wants and give us more quality content and less grinding.

Seriously - it didn't even take someone posting the exploit itself to figure out how to do it. All you really needed to do was extrapolate from a bug report about things disappearing from the stack and work from there. I was shocked at how easy it was, and I can easily imagine people doing it accidentally via a typo (people who tended to keep stacks of ingredients/collectibles in their banks, at least.)

Good to see you are still lurking, if not posting.  Bugs like this suck because they distract too many people from the bigger problems that need fixing.  Like more content.

Nobody intended to ruin your day off, and I hope that this weekend's excitement (which Glin has not smoothed out) didn't ruin another attempted day off.

Mal, how do you manage to work for such fantastic people?  The level of awesome at DDO just keeps going up with each failed lead producer!

And hopefully the syrupy thick sarcasm on that is noticeable.

Rowan and I were both out of the state. I'm just catching up.
Just remember nothing is set in stone..costs and whatnot. This will all be ironed out. I know what the dev's were thinking, but it may be the wrong way to think about it.
There is a difference in philosophy that has to happen with an older game than one that is new.

Serious question, Majmal, from Quality Manager to Quality Manager:

How do you handle it, when you are having a lot of stress, you stop a moment for thinking and realize that the actual problem is totally abstract and nothing to do with real life?

I am in Fruit and Vegetables, so usually we have "real Problems" (pesticides, rotten products...), but 90% of the time it is bullshit about some number that is wrong in some excel sheet that is anyway bullshit and good for nothing.

Can you also try to get that difference into the head of the dev/s responsible for old & outdated epic/raidloot that is only good for leveling and not whatever endgame you envision ?

That is exactly how I deal with it. No one dies if quality is not met.I can only recommend and show data, and then live with whatever decision is made. There is personal pride and whatnot, but at the end of the day it is swords and boards, and elves and dwarves.

The stress for the most part is not about bugs per se, it is usually about personal interactions, decisions made , communication between departments and stuff like that. The same stressors would be at any office job in a management position.

Being married to an OR nurse, we have vastly different definitions of "bad day at work". Tends to put things in perspective for me.

Nice to have ya back.  There's really not much to catch up on though; the bottom line is that every single player (except Forzah, natch) agrees that a) tying Hearts to Saga completions is bullshit, and b) making the currency used to acquire hearts BtC instead of BtA is bullshit.

People are so upset about the bullshit that they're posting screenies of their cancelled subscriptions and camping out on a bridge in Wayfinder.  I mean, seriously, logging onto Wayfinder must mean they're pretty pissed.  Nobody does that.

Everyone also agrees that the resolution to this is: use whatever currency you like, so long as it's BtA and drops from EVERY Epic quest so that everyone has an equal opportunity to get it.

There.  You're all caught up.

Now go and set fire to some people who deserve it  Cool

Yep, that'll do it.  After working in an ICU for 9 months, you define 'bad days' differently.

Order a crowbar, from Dead-On, The Annhilator, and beat this into every persons head there.  While not always true, breaking the past to make the future is a REALLY bad idea.

Small hospital, we handled drug overdoses to compensate for the lack of critical or urgent care patients.  If they found out we were gonna call the cops and haul them off to rehab some became violent.

Exactly this (with the addition of what's highlighted)!

The highlighted bit is needed because putting them in some epics at the rate Astral Shards drop in chests is not acceptable.

I'm curious too. It would significantly improve my confidence in the future of this game if there is some plan that makes this idea not as stupid and out of touch as it currently looks.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Just because we know why they made the Delorean by no means does it indicate it was a good idea.

Just because we know why Turbine does something, doesn't mean it will make sense or be good for the game.
